And after paying the 300k will the mia noi get her husband? Or does he still have to stay with the first wife?

And does anybody ask him what he wants?

1: Hard to say, depends on the answer to question 2!

2: Hard to say, but I think I would get the hell out of Dodge city if I was him.

3: No, the lance corporal is not anybodies favorite at the movement and should sign up for some undercover work somewhere far away.

Can't help but thinking it would be great if she has a 'small husband' and he tells the original husband to wait outside until he's finished each evening.

What if the guy was a falang? Do you honestly think this would be any different? ???? Maybe that is when the monk would have stopped it before the 'real wife' arrived.

Who knows if the monk even knew what was going on anyway though. Tough question considering how fast news spreads here. Now multiply that by falang. (Cheating X being farlang / TIT = ?) You're right! Just pay the money.

The talk of Thailand is now being referred to as not just a drama but a MEGA-DRAMA!

This is the case of a wife armed with a marriage certificate who gate-crashed her husband's wedding in Chainat with his mistress, or mia noi.

The mother-in-law of the legal wife sided with her and was even filmed whacking her son over the head while the newly-weds received monks' blessings.

Latest developments include the "mia luang" (main wife) rejecting the new bride's apologies and the Crime Suppression Division suggesting a crime has been committed.

Sanook reported that the bride - a gold shop employee according to previous reports - had apologized for all the kerfuffle.

The wife went online to say she did not accept that. It was too late for that. "You should have thought about what you were doing before putting on that bridal dress," she said on Facebook.

Then sharing a comment from her lawyer she pointed to the fact that under Article 1523 only money would do by way of apology.

This was accompanied by the hashtag #team mia luang

She said earlier that she planned to sue for at least 300,000 baht.

In another story on the furor, Sanook said that the policeman who married was a 34 year old lance corporal.

A police spokesman earlier suggested that the cop could face disciplinary procedures but said that essentially it was a private matter.

But now the fan page of the Crime Suppression Division has suggested that it is illegal to marry someone else when there is a legally registered marriage.

Prior to this statement it was only thought to be illegal if a marriage was actually registered twice - a Buddhist ceremony did not count when it came to breaking the law.

But the CSD post speaks of disrespect and the possibility of suing for divorce with the prospect of compensation for matters like loss of earnings or status.

There is an article to cover this???

Article 1523 states that only money would by way of apology???.

Is that a law??  The mind boggles.

his arrogance is more of a white powder peddler than traffic cop.

neither he nor monks stopped the ceremony, when his mother and wife appeared.

Proof that the rtp recruitment process allows any lamebrain to join.

It was only a village ceremony !  It has no legal status. So what's the big fuss ? Let the family fight it out for what they can get.

Precisely.

Most people on this forum seem to have zero knowledge of Thai customs, language and traditions. Amply displayed on a topic like this where they bring all their western baggage to the table and end up looking silly.

Thanks for your sensible post.

never-ending status dramas in thailand

I honestly think everyone is concerned about their status, this forum has status attached.

We have advanced members, star members and popular posts among other accolades.

These are all a level of status.

I doubt this will be a popular post, but as i am not Thai I am not concerned about that!

"Prior to this statement it was only thought to be illegal if a marriage was actually registered twice - a Buddhist ceremony did not count when it came to breaking the law. "  that is what most people seem to think.... so what has changed?  just the chance of money?

Yet the operating standard remains - PAY !

Once again "the envelope" overrides all problems.Amazing Thailand.

Exactly!

Plus as usual the main wife goes only after the mia noi not ever considering it her husbands fault...Or if mia noi even knew he had a 1st wife

If she wants 300k ask sammie as he was the offender....he was the one already married not the Mia Noi
