Pattaya looks set to get an extreme sports facility under the flyover leading to the Bali Hai port in South Pattaya.

A budget of 10 million baht has been allocated to convert the area under the flyover to cater to skateboarding and skate surfing as well as a Takraw and a basketball playing area.

Mayor Sontaya Khunpluem and a deputy were in conversation at the site yesterday with a representative of Extreme Sports Thailand who are working on the project.

I'm getting a clearer picture each day of what desperation looks like!

Facilities that are built tend to be neglected and fall into disrepair. One need only look at the pathetic condition of the childrens playground, Jomtien Beach, across from the night market. Having been closed for months due to the latest, it would seem a perfect time to repair the rubberized play surface and other areas within.

Talk about a bad image. That includes the stained and filthy Jomtien Beach promanade footpath. Someone ought to invent a pathway scrubber/cleaner. Oh wait!...it has been invented. If it we here, it most likely would break down due to neglect and lack of maintenance.

Maybe also expensive (at least on the budgetary estimate).

Is the sports area located in the middle of a road junction? Getting to it safely could be more extreme than the sports played within.

Survivors will be given ten extra points.

Mayor flying high again!

He's got too much free time in his hands I think.

Neo Pattaya,

Pattaya to become "quarantine travel bubble"

Pattaya to become next Miami, next Singapore, next Dubai

What's next?

Basket ball court ? how many ‘locals’ play basket ball ??

Loads. My condo complex has a basketball court and it is well used, mostly by Thais.

Many playgrounds under flyovers in Bangkok so not an altogether an original idea.
