webfact
Thai govt outlines 8-step process for people to receive COVID-19 vaccinations Image: Reuters The Thai government on Tuesday outlined an eight-step process for registration and vaccination at hospitals in the country. The Ministry of Public Health (MOPHJ) said that by detailing what is required will help Thai people to “understand the process and be able to cooperate with medical personnel”. Upon arrival at hospital, anyone receiving the vaccine will be required to follow these eight steps: 1. Card registration; 2. Personal weight and height measuring; 3. Timeline screening, risk assessment, and signing the agreement for receiving the vaccine; 4. Waiting to get the vaccination shot; 5. Getting the COVID-19 shot; 6. Observing symptoms for around 30 minutes, and Line official scanning on "Mor Prom"; 7. Getting guideline documents for practice after getting the vaccine; 8. Getting health assessment for after-effects and risk assessment, and following up after getting vaccination with "Dash Board" and Line official account. The MOPH said everyone who has received the vaccine will be contacted after 7 and 30 days via the ‘Mor Prom’ Line account. An appointment will also be arranged to receive a second dose of the vaccination. The Thai government earlier confirmed that first it will begin its first rollout of the vaccine to frontline health care workers later this week. The vaccine to be used will be the Chinese made Sinovac Biotech, which was granted approval from Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Thailand has also ordered 26 million coronavirus vaccine doses from AstraZeneca, and reserved a further 35 million doses from the company. These vaccines will be used in the country’s mass vaccination campaign from June. Between April and June, Thailand will vaccinate those deemed most at risk. Last week, officials confirmed that expats in Thailand will also be included in the vaccination campaign. While exact details of how and when the vaccine will be administered to foreigners has not yet been released, it is likely that this will also begin from June. Private hospitals have also been given the greenlight to procure their own doses of the vaccine, providing the vaccines are FDA approved. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2021-02-23 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

bluesofa
Is there a restriction dependant on age? I saw earlier our illustrious leader had volunteered himself to be shot (in the arm), only to read later later that he can't as he's over 60. 2

Petey11
Thainess again, lots of official paper stamping, box ticking. I said before their aim to vaccinate by end if year was doable, with all these steps and waiting to be monitored for 30 minutes, will drastically reduce the number that can be vaccinated in a day. internationalism
they have missed blood pressure check. that is essential part of the treatment in thailand. It's part of their check-in system for just about any appointment. If you have an outpatient appointment for anything you need to be weighed, along with checking your blood pressure. Turn up for a psychiatry appointment and they still want to know this, even if you were there the day before. Perhaps checking your height will tell them if you're overweight (or just too short for your weight). Using judgement to see someone is fat doesn't come into it any more. 1

Sure. Add another 4-5 steps and lots of people will forego the experience altogether. Vaccination problem solved by another stroke of bureaucratic brilliance. It won't curtail the virus but it will certainly minimize the tedious task of actual governance. The money and effort can be better spent on a new submarine or the upcoming moon mission. newnative
As I said before, when this was already a news item a week ago, Step 1 should be procuring the vaccines in very large numbers, which hasn't been done. All this ridiculous 'step' business when there's nothing in the way of vaccines to 'process'.
rwill
This probably means if foreigners are actually allowed to get the vaccine you will show up and be told you need to go to immigration first and get a proof of residence. Waiting after a vaccine is normal procedure to make sure you don't have a reaction to it. I don't have the line app on my phone and don't intend to put it on either. I do not see a reason to require it. Just like any other normal hospital visit they can make a follow on appointment. chilly07
Most important thing is that they have approved hospitals procuring their own supplies. In the rush to profit from this we might see which hospitals will lead the field and generate substantial income. As long as they maintain a modest shortfall on the Government prepurchased supply we could see a sea change to overall availability. Good to have competing sources of supply not just Wufluvac or nothing. And I don't think jumping the queue based on cost rather than waiting till it's free will seem ironic to Thais.
