Thailand's Covid-19 spokesman Taweesin Visanuyothin announced an easing of restrictions on sporting events and attendance by the public.

He also said that passengers could now transit to other flights at Bangkok's main airport Suvarnabhumi.

Passengers will be limited to spending just 12 hours at the airport and will not be able to sneak out and buy anything, he said.

Returning to a semblance of normality are events involving football, volleyball, jetski, golf and even a beauty pageant, reported Thai business media.

Thai League Football will be able to accommodate 50% of normal spectators from now until April.

Thai Volleyball League will be able to have 30%.

Thai cycling and international events through this year will be subject to provincial Covid authority restrictions on numbers.

The same goes for the LPGA event in Chonburi. Outdoors events such as these are seen as less problematic.

The Jetski World Cup and Jetski Pro-tour in Pattaya in April will have 50% spectator participation.

The Miss Grand International beauty pageant in March in Bangkok will also be permitted to go ahead with spectators limited to 30% of capacity.
