It also confirms that it is very effective at preventing transmission. Near 90% which is high for any vaccine. High enough to provide "herd immunity" with a successful mass vaccination program.

So now your saying its fine if vaccinated people with Covid come in with no quarantine and infect millions of Thais with Covid ??????

Even a 0.000001% chance of a vaccinated foreigner infecting a Thai who then is a super spreader.................. is too high.

NO NO NO.

There should be no vaccine passport at all............vaccinated or not must be treated the same.

But surely this type of thing needs to be agreed throughout the world otherwise there will be a "This vaccine passport is not valid in this country" .......LOL

End of the day............there is a lot of countries all DESPERATE for tourists.

Whichever country opens up fully, without restrictions, will get the tourists.

Thailand may try to enforce restrictions first.........but if Vietnam, Indonesia etc....open up without.......they will get all the tourists and Thailand will suffer.

So it will become a race to open up, and all restrictions will be dropped before too long..........just watch and wait.

GPS tracking does NOT work.

I have, being a very naughty person, got around this in places (not in Thailand of course)

Quite simply.

Have 2 mobile phones...........2 sim cards.

Register the Tracking App on the spare mobile with a Sim card you do not intend to use and leave it in your room/house/apartment.

Then use your other normal phone and normal sim card to go out and about.

Great for when you are forced to do self-isolation in certain countries- all of their tracking relies solely on the mobile network signal, and when you leave that "tracked" phone at home.......they dont know you are out and about..........

Your scamming the system. Tourists are tourists they not going to screw around with multiple phones or leave it in the room. They don't give a <deleted> about it.

There is deep paranoia amongst TV posters as if the authorities care about a bunch of white old farts.

GPS tracking bracelet was a governments scam where they paid miliooooooooons for an tracking bracelet right. Then when they presented it internet quickly exposed scam.

They got chinese <deleted> from aliexpress and put logo on it.

Here it is Comarch company https://www.gov.pl/web/diplomacy/quarantine-warden-by-comarch?fbclid=IwAR2iZW8518MVhZEuIKNWMpbCWbyCgkDFP3tF-cBBcNVwhAeaB11LuLspikU

Same thing without Comarch logo is 15$ retail on Alibaba.

For example in EU like Poland paid 38mil PLN for it, never used it. Do ur math.

Same scam in other countries. Thailand hadnbracelet trackers too didn't they?

But anyhow. Vaccination doesn't protect forever. How long ago can it be - weeks or months or years?

It depends on the vaccine. Some vaccinations confer pretty much life-long immunity (e.g. measles) others provide much shorter protection, such as the flu vaccines.

Most virologists think the CoVid-19 vaccines will fall somewhere between the two extremes.

Since no vaccine is 100% effective, then yes there is still a chance that for that very small percentage of vaccinated people in whom the vaccine is not effective, they could still transmit it.

However actual, real world data from both Israel and the UK, gathered from literally millions of people who have been vaccinated there, shows that even just one dose of the vaccine substantially reduces the risk of transmission.

In the UK, the data shows that for those vaccinated:

The figures from Israel (again involving millions of vaccinees) were very, very similar.

Furthermore:

After you get the CoVid-19 vaccine

It's true that earlier (and simply because the data had not been collected and/or analysed) it wasn't possible to say whether being vaccinated stopped you from being able to spread the disease.

However that's no longer the case - the real world data is now in and it shows that vaccines do indeed massively reduce rates of transmission.

Reducing is not eradicating.

If everyone is subject to PCR test and 14 days quarantine then there is zero chance of Covid coming in.

With around 30% of vaccinated people able to carry and transmit the virus, allowing vaccinated people in allows in lots of infection.

Quite simply..........everyone should continue to have PCR test before flight, on arrival and during quarantine.  Vaccinated or not.

Else......what is the point.  If even  just 1% of vaccinated people can carry and spread the virus.........with 5 million visitors that 1% is 50,000 people in Thailand with Covid spreading it to 10 people then makes 500,000 infections.............

Even if only 0.1% of vaccinated people can carry and spread the virus............ with 5 million visitors that 0.1% is 5,000 people in Thailand with Covid spreading it to 10 people then makes 50,000 cases.

It would be complete and utter madness to allow vaccinated people to travel without PCR testing and quarantine !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ONLY WHEN EVERYONE IS VACCINATED can things return to normal........until then PCR testing and quarantine is a must.

.

That's absolutely untrue and based on incorrect assumptions about what's the numbers mean.

Your figures assume that after vaccination, every single person who had been vaccinated (100% of them) is then exposed to SARS-CoV-2. However we know that isn't  going to be the case.

I don't have figures for every country on the planet, but in the UK (a country with one of the highest rates of infection in the entire world) different analyses give the total percentage of the population that has been infected since the outbreak began, as somewhere between 6 and 15%.

If we split the difference and take 10% as a rough working estimate, that means that on average, less than 1% of the populace was getting infected in any given month. So the chances of a vaccinated person in the UK being infected within, say a month of being vaccinated, is about a hundred times less than you seem to be suggesting. Also, as time goes by and more people are vaccinated, the chances of being exposed to the virus will get lower and lower.

For almost any other country in the world (including the US) the risk would be even lower than in the UK since the coronavirus is less prevalent there.

You're also assuming that every person who gets infected, will necessarily spread the disease to others - another thing that we can't say is true for certain.

Just take the couple of most recent cases that were reported in Hua Hin for example. The authorities tested dozens of people who they knew had been in contact with these guys but none of them tested positive. There are also multiple reports in the UK, US etc involving families or couples where one person gets infected but no-one else living in the same house does.

Then there's the evidence that even when vaccinated people do get infected, they have milder infections than they would otherwise have had and logically, the less severe an infection is, the less likely a person is to transmit.

So overall I think you are vastly, vastly overestimating the risk that vaccinated people might theoretically have, of spreading the disease.
