Misquoted or not, it will be enough for the China PR machinery to shift blame.

But we should remember that if wild animals in SE Asia are a possible origin, it's the disgusting habit of some Chinese people of trafficking wildlife, keeping them in unsanitary conditions and then slaughtering them in filthy food markets that is the most likely cause.

Yup. They are to blame for this. And SARS.

The real conspiracy theory is the one being pushed that this virus didn't originate in a Chinese lab. Literally every points directly at it but because the Chinese say it didn't, people are ducking their heads and looking at their feet while waiting for any kind of lame alternative theory they can jump on, regardless of how ridiculous it sounds.

And what would be the real conspiracy theory on MERS? You obviously believe the WHO publish fake news.

The origins of the virus are not fully understood but according to the analysis of different virus genomes it is believed that it may have originated in bats and later transmitted to camels at some point in the distant past.

Come on. Conspiracy theories don't count. Investigations have been done. Do some research.

A conspiracy theory that can't be disproved is not a conspiracy theory at all.

Can you provide hard evidence it did not leak from a lab? Not opinion, actual evidence, the facts and reasons. Beware that viruses have leaked from labs before, including SARS-1  leaking from the Beijing Virological Lab, multiple times, eventually killing someone. Oops.

You better go and solve your problem instead of looking for a scapegoat.

What? I was in China during SARS. This virus, like SARS, probably came from China.

Perhaps you need a new source for your information?

It sure is. I'm not going to waste my time posting links for you. Many credible sites out there that prove what I said. Many fake news sites out there spreading conspiracy theories.

Not being able to provide evidence that something didn't happen, doesn't mean that it did happen.

For instance, no-one can provide evidence that the effects of gravity are not caused by miillions of invisible space aliens attaching invisible strings to everything and pulling on them.

That clearly doesn't mean that it's therefore proven that gravity is caused by invisible space aliens.
