1FinickyOne
I am not a farmer but have 3 rai of land w/very nicely landscaped gardens... I would like to make some small decorative closed in areas to grow vegetables... attractive and functional. What is easy to grow in Northern Thailand? Can I grow celery? Any photos that might give ideas please send along...

djayz
There are a few threads here and on the subforum Organic Farming, Smallholding and Kitchen Gardening, which give a pretty detailed list of what grows well here and when to grow it. If you scroll back a few pages, you're bound to find them.

Apparently their Chinese cousins have gotten a taste for it and are importing the stuff big time. Supply and demand.

cooked
You can't grow ANYTHING ANYWHERE in Thailand. Look what the neighbours are growing with an unprejudiced eye. Nobody in our village can even grow chili, garlic or onions for example (but can in the rice fields barely 300 metres away) but much to my surprise I can grow broccoli... just keep experimenting until you die. At present I lay value on cultivating enough Moringa, turmeric, ginger, Pak chai, Malabar spinach and Chaya for every day use, we have various herbs like basil, dill and always a few pineapples going....
