Air pollution was at 163 this morning, now has dropped to "only" 110: "unhealthy for sensitive groups" aka people who breathe.

Until that is dealt with (12th of never current date for committee meeting), any sports here might qualify as xtreme sports, risking your life.

Well Sontayan is certainly not the person who should be promoting sport and fitness, he is far too chubby.????

He doesn't need to be fit, everything he wants he gets delivered on a platter.

When the wuhuflu situation eventually settles down I don't see a pretty picture of pattaya coming into existence.

There will be many people who have been surviving, just, returning to pattaya to make a living any way they can from the 'returning tourists'.  That will take a lot of controlling to prevent it turning into a not so nice situation. I just don't see it being or having much of a chance of being all the things these dreams are proposing.

Yea dream on  Chubby! The indoor stadium has been on and off going for close to twenty years!  Your brother stole or took money 120 plus million to redo Beach Road and that was only the first time how much and how many times this has been done. Even the Army Corp got tired and decided to leave today it is unfinished and you what is your dream wake up Chubby.

Oh yes, Nay sayers;

Athletes from around the world will be aching to come breath the foul PM 2.5, 5.0 and 10.0 contaminated air we continue to belch into the atmosphere, from our diesel and coal powerplants, vehicles and surface ships.

Drink contaminated waters from "high tidal backup" and poor wastewater treatment facilities.

Swim at our beaches polluted with overboard petroleum fuel from ship bilges or poor maintenance.

Visit areas where people don't wash hands with hot water, or disinfect food preparation or tables with bleach (disinfectant) or use ammonia to clean glass.

Yes Sir'y Bob..... were just going to build a large sports complex at Billions of Baht to the taxpayers and hope it all works out.

How people will afford to come via Tolls @150 baht each way is anyone's guess.

Brilliant!

I could do with some fitness being brought to me, I'm a lazy sod and can't go to get it, especially as I live nowhere near Chonburi.

An upbeat mayor of Pattaya Sontaya Khunpluem told Sophon Cable TV that Pattaya and Chonburi and the rest of the eastern seaboard under the EEC plans will become a hub of international sports and fitness.

Plans are underway to build and upgrade sporting facilities and stadia in Pattaya at Huay Yai on 300 rai of land as well as at a university and in Muang district of Chonburi.

The EEC is the eastern economic corridor, a key plan of the current Thai government for the eastern seaboard.

The Chonbuiri Thailand Sports Complex will make the area the hub of international sports events and bring fitness to the people, he exclaimed.

In the process sports will bring in money to the area, promote sports tourism and thanks to a sports science and training institute at the university standards of sporting excellence will be raised.

The mayor mentioned the possibility of the Asian games and even aspects of the Olympics.

Exactly what he meant by this was not adequately explained by the media who seemed caught up in the mayor's enthusiasm without grinding down into the nitty gritty.

According to the mayor Pattaya and the province of Chonburi will soon be the hub of sports and fitness to add to its other hub claims.

How about hub of smog to add to that list?
