webfact
Thailand starts COVID-19 vaccination campaign A woman receives the Sinovac coro navirus disease (COVID-19) vaccine at the Samut Sakhon hospital in Samut Sakhon province, Thailand, February 28, 2021. REUTERS/Athit Perawongmetha BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand kicked off its COVID-19 inoculation campaign on Sunday, with cabinet ministers, health officials and medical professionals among the first in the queue to receive vaccinations. The first doses of vaccine, developed by China's Sinovac Biotech, were given to Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who is also the health minister, among others at an infectious diseases institute on the outskirts of Bangkok. "I hope that the vaccination will result in people being safe from the spread of COVID-19 and it allows Thailand to return to normalcy as soon as possible," Anutin told reporters afterwards. Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, 66, attended the event, although his age falls outside the range of 18 to 59 suitable to receive SinoVac's CoronaVac vaccine, so he did not get it. Thailand received its first 200,000 doses of the Sinovac vaccine from China and 117,00 imported doses of AstraZeneca's vaccine this week. CoronaVac has been distributed to 13 high-risk provinces, which will start injecting front-line health professionals and volunteers on Sunday, the health ministry has said. AstraZeneca's vaccine will be ready for use by the second week of March, after going through quality control tests, the company said in a statement. Thailand is expected to take delivery of a further 1.8 million doses of CoronaVac in March and April. A mass campaign to administer 10 million doses a month is set to begin in June, with 61 million shots of AstraZeneca vaccines produced by local firm Siam Bioscience. With a tally of just over 25,000 infections, Thailand has escaped the kind of fallout suffered by some other countries since the pandemic began last year. The PM did not say that the vaccinations would be delayed in the hot spots like Samutsakhon, 70,000 doses are being administered there. The PM was due to get the AZ vaccine which came from the new AZ manufacturing plant in South Korea, the problem is that they are awaiting some data on the safety for over 65's, which is the same reason that Germany is awaiting clearance from their Scottish vaccinations of over 65's.

Popular Post TigerandDog
About time some of you people actually read and comprehend what is written. Cha Cha bailed on the AZ vaccine NOT Sinovac, and if you actually read the OP correctly you would have seen that Sinovac is ONLY for those aged between 18 - 59. Cha Cha is 66, so Sinovac would not be administered to him or any of those on here 60 or older that have been sooking ( for the uneducated that means moaning/complaining ) about Sinovac.

Anutin is democratically elected and from a different party to Prayut Who didn’t even run in the last election and thus DIDNT receive a single vote. Same with the watch borrower. Anutin wants the job, makes no secret of it. He ran for it. In the 2019 Thai general election, he was the Bhumjaithai Party's candidate for prime minister. He doesn’t love Prayut. If Thanatorn or Peau Thai won he would have joined them. He was previously a minister under Abbhisit.

A soldier who rose to the top of the Thai Army and then seized power. An alpha male. A hard man. An army leader. He rose to the top. Fairly sure he isn’t worried about a little needle. He was following medical advice. If other leaders around the world had also followed medical advice they would not have got themselves personally infected and tens of thousands of their people might still be alive. 2
