webfact Posted March 1, 2021 Share Posted March 1, 2021 Thai PM defends the police use of force at Sunday protest File photo Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has defended the police’s use of force to quell an increasingly violent protest by anti-establishment movement, in front of the First Infantry Battalion of the First Infantry Regiment of the Royal Guards, in Bangkok’s Bangkhen district, on Sunday night. “The group advanced into police’s area and the restricted area and physically assaulted police officers. So they had to resort to measures that are in accordance with international standards,” the prime minister said. He also asked the media to be balanced in their presentation of the protest and not just show the police use of force, but also the provocative acts and violence by the protesters.
