BANGKOK (NNT) - The Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) has expected investment to triple to 300 billion baht this year as investment projects previously held by the coronavirus outbreak get pushed forward again.

EEC Secretary -General Kanit Sangsubhan said actual investment in the EEC could be up from 96 billion baht in 2020, or 46% of total project applications as investors did not invest last year, and they would have to do it this year.

He said there will be a bunch of projects held up from previous years.

They don't have to do anything, I think he's in for a bit of a shock, a collapse is coming.

They keep investing Billions into Some offices and a train that will be ready in 15 years time , i rather see them investing in good relationships with expats and simplify our visas and work-permit procedures , one rai land ownership, 1 year headache free tourist visum , build some 5 stars casinos complexes etc etc.

The Investors have not stopped Investing.

Sure, some of their activity may have been curtailed slightly by the Pandemic, but they have been, still are, and will be Investing.

However. The Covid Pandemic has given a lot of time to these Investors to take stock, and to revamp their Business Models.

The regretable outcome will be that Thailand will find itself no longer competetive on the Global Market, a sharp downward trend for Thailands Economy in the last Q of 2019, was a warning shot across the Bows. The Investors, are making their Investments into other Countries for higher returns upon their money.

An strong Baht, Political unrest, massive pools of unskilled and over paid workers ( compared to relative workers in other Nations ), a lack of quality skilled workers, Etc Etc Etc have  added to the Countries woes, and a 300 Billion Baht ( 1 Billion $ ) money injection into the EEC is just a Dream.
