Ban Muang reported that local official Jirawat Phramanee led groups of local government departments to the Chatchai market in Hua Hin after reports that a woman beggar was annoying traders, customers and tourists.

The 40 something woman would persistently ask for 40 baht and if she didn't get it she would display bad behaviour and use bad language.

This was dragging the good name of Hua Hin down, they said.

The officials spread out and the miscreant was soon caught red handed.

She was taken to Hua Hin police station where she was warned, had her particulars taken down and was told that if she displayed any more poor behavior she would be taken into care.

Traders and people at the market were asked to call 1300 to report begging, vagrancy and child beggars.

Though it was not mentioned in the Ban Muang article this appeared to be part of a coordinated campaign to stop begging.

Pictures on the site showed officials carrying a vinyl sign and placards related to stopping begging.

I am sure she is blaming her bad behavior on me right now.

The mind boggles thinking about what you might be getting up to with the ladies around Hua Hin, but surely your not sending them out begging.????????????

It starts at 600 Baht age 60 and goes up 100 baht every 10 years after that.

Being a beggar that might be what she was hoping for.... some care?

Having her particulars taken down was a bit stiff though.
