webfact
Cabinet Approves Reopening of 3 Thailand-Laos Border Checkpoints Paphamon Arayasukawat BANGKOK (NNT) - The Cabinet has approved the reopening of three border checkpoints linking Thailand to Laos in order to help the export sector. Deputy government spokeswoman Ratchada Thanadirek said the Joint Public and Private Sector Consultative Committee on Commerce proposed the reopening to boost cross-border trade between the two neighbors. She said the three border checkpoints, which had been ordered shut to prevent Covid-19 from spreading since the first wave, are the Pak Saeng checkpoint in Ubon Ratchathani, Chiang Khan checkpoint in Loei and Hai Soke checkpoint in Nong Khai. She added that the reopening will apply only to the transport of goods and products. Strict Covid-19 preventive measures will be employed at the checkpoints. The Department of Foreign Trade reported that cross-border trade between Thailand and Laos in the first 10 months of 2020 was recorded at Bt156 billion. This made Laos Thailand’s second-biggest cross-border trade partner after Malaysia. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-03-04 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

That remains to be seen but I hope so as it's a good plan B option.

And you have read the article. Not the slightest indication about opening for personal travel. Transport of goods was never closed in total. It's just about opening some more checkpoints for that purpose. I am skeptic that I will come around expensive plan B before October! (and then maybe only with vaccination and quick tests) Edited March 5, 2021 by KhunBENQ
