webfact Posted March 8, 2021 Share Posted March 8, 2021 Three killed in murder suicide in Chiang Mai Picture: Manager A luxury condominium in the Chang Pheuak area of downtown Chiang Mai was sealed off on Friday after a man wanted on a Bangkok warrant for fraud took two hostages. Sumet Khrongwong, 25, was wanted by the Phrakhanong Court in the Thai capital for fraud in connection with the buying and selling of car registration plates - so called "cherished numbers". The drama unfolded late on Thursday after several shots were fired relatives were brought in to get the three year old daughter of the suspect released but two remained hostage. They included a wife of the suspect called Ananda, 18, who is also wanted in connection with fraud. The media reported two women were being held. The drama was ongoing at the weekend at the condo building next to the local Bank of Thailand HQ. The Region 5 commander of police was on the scene coordinating operations that continued through the night. On Saturday morning, police gained entrance to the building and discovered three bodies.
