Popular Post webfact
Corruption right to the top claimed as investigation into police gambling links on eastern seaboard continues PIcture: Daily News The extent to which senior police in Rayong and Chonburi are allegedly involved in illegal gambling is becoming clearer. Though precisely what the fallout will be is still under investigation. Yesterday investigator Pol Gen Wissanu Prasatthongosop gave a press briefing at RTP HQ. Wissanu has been tasked with investigating illegal gambling dens run with the connivance of the police on the eastern seaboard. Two orders came from the recently promoted head of the Royal Thai police General Suwat Chaengyodsuk. Daily News reported a committee was set up to investigate according to both orders. The issue came to a head as the dens were seen as centers that aided the spread of Covid-19. So what might have been put under the carpet in regular years became a political hot potato, notes Thaivisa. Wissanu indicated that both of the regional provincial commanders were under investigation. These are men with the senior rank of major general - Paphatdech Ketphan of Rayong province and Prakan Prajong in Chonburi. They are being investigated along with five other senior officers. They were initially told of the investigation on February 22nd and given 15 days to respond but it is understood that this timeframe is now being expanded because of the extent of the alleged law breaking. In addition 253 officers of lower rank further down the chain of command are in the investigators' crosshairs. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2021-03-12 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

mikebell
They should check out the 'protection money' that has hamstrung all local businesses for years. I was in a bar and two well dressed young men entered, received an envelope from behind the bar and made a sharp exit. The cashier said it was for a music licence payable monthly. I pointed out that the bar had no facilities for music provision. She shrugged.
