Aluminum extrusions

Recently I build a small support structure with aluminum extrusions. It was easy to do. It's stable and it looks good.

Now I think about doing other things with aluminum extrusions like maybe a desk or later maybe a bed-frame.

Does anybody of you have experience with this?

Here is a Thai company which has all the parts. They are also available on Lazada.

Here is an example video were someone built a work desk:

How long are the extrusions you get on Lazada?

We built a number of aluminum products and our supplier was United Aluminum Industries (UAI).

Extrusion is generally pretty cheap. All the accessories are what really add up on all that modular stuff.

If you've never been through an extrusion plant it is defiantly worth seeing if you have the chance.

I think Lazada has up to 1200mm.

The Perl Corporation offers up to 6000mm in their catalog.

Yes, it adds up. But I think all in all it's still not too bad. And because it's all modular it's easy to make changes later and/or reuse the material.

We got everything in 6m sticks. If you buy full sticks, some places will cut to length with up-charge. Hard to get 6m in the elevator....

Did you ever get your shop together?

Do you know how much weight load it can carry or load specification? Any idea do they have consultation?

Here is a table

Here are some formula:

And here are a lot more formula

Thanks for the link. It seems they have some parts like the "3 Corner Cube Bracket" which the other company (link in my first post) does not have.

Unfortunately I can't find any! We processed about 200 sheets of plywood for a furniture project right after we built it and then it was just kinda in the way afterwards. Just decommissioned it last year, took it all apart. Have been using the extrusions as an adhoc fixture table for other projects. The saw was a bit overkill, should have made it smaller and easier to store. Here's some of the drawings if at all interested...

It certainly looks robust...
