Three people were killed - including an eight year old child - after a Ford pick-up overturned on a scenic route in Nakhon Sri Thammarat in the south of Thailand.

A motorcycle pulled out suddenly- this was named in a report published by Thaivisa at the weekend as one of the main causes of accidents in Thailand.

Rescue services from both Sichon and Khanom districts were at the scene yesterday cutting out the nine occupants of the pick-up.

It happened on the road between Khanom and Sichon at Ban Hat Da Dan.

Named as dead were Kunkanya, 8, Wanphen, 64 and Somporn, 62. They all had different surnames.

Six were taken to hospital.

All occupants of the pick-up had travelled from their home in Pak Phanang to visit someone in Khanom Hospital.

On the return journey they decided to take a new scenic route that Daily News said the driver was unfamiliar with.

A motorcycle pulled out and the pick-up flipped and ended up overturned by the side of the road.

The motorcyclist was not reported among those injured.

Without knowing the speed the driver was going on this 'unknown and scenic' route, then it's just as possible the motor bike saw nothing coming when he pulled out.

Or maybe he just didn't look until half-way out which is the norm here.
