webfact
Paphamon Arayasukawat BANGKOK (NNT) - The government has expected the Tour Tiew Thai stimulus project will spur growth in tourism and generate over 15.5 billion baht to help salvage the sector from the Covid 19-induced slump. Government Spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said the government will subsidize 40% of package tour payments or up to 5,000 baht per person under the project. People must purchase a package tour from a registered domestic tour agency. He said the package must be booked for at least three days and two nights and be worth a minimum price of 12,500 baht. The program is for tours booked from Sunday to Thursday. Tour agencies eligible for the program must be registered in Thailand. The spokesman said registration for the Tour Tiew Thai subsidies program will open in early May and is expected to boost substantial revenue for businesses in the supply chain such as tour guides, hotels, transport companies, restaurants and tourist sites by more than 12.5 billion baht a year. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-03-29 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

jaltsc
"...stimulus project will spur growth in tourism and generate over 15.5 billion baht to help salvage the sector from the Covid 19-induced slump." All this does is move the already limited funds to a different sector. The only way the country as a whole increases revenue is from tourists bringing money in from the outside. Any increase in employment in the tourism sector will be met with loss of jobs from another sector.
cliveshep
Reading on Bangkok Post this morning that the Government have managed to vaccinate 200,00 people - themselves and the Senate plus friends and hi-so's and the general's golf caddies apparently. No more vaccines available perhaps - their roll-out hasn't materialised - still got 69 million to go with not even a start in sight let alone an end. Meanwhile up until a day or so ago no private enterprise was permitted to use any privately purchased supplies - waiting for the unmentionable person's own labs to catch up perhaps, keep the profits in-house so to speak. So given the lack of vaccinations and the rapid rise in infections what tourists would want to come here? Profits from tourism is now only a wild dream by an inept Government that previously chose to deliberately hold back from purchasing vaccines and also refused India's 4 million free doses - morons! Meanwhile the Government has apparently earned the name "Thai Khu Fa club " because of ministerial infections earned sharing girls and glasses at a couple of hi'so clubs and Prayut wants to sue those who use it in mockery. Poor lamb - hurt his feelings? He is a leader supposedly - looks like leading is not exactly up his street, tantrums yes - good at those!
