Actually a few. 1) If only 7 days is needed (spoiler alert, it's not) then why were they doing 14 days until now? 2) Are they prepared for the infected people they will let into the country now and the eventual spread it will cause of the virus? 3) When is this country going to get it's act together on the vaccine? A case in point, the Moderna vaccine has been approved for use in the US and other western countries for months. Why the <deleted> can't the Thai CDC just approve it? Do they know better than the USA??? I am on a waiting list at a private hospital to take it and I have to wait for the government to approve it. And the J&J vaccine has now been approved. But the government won't let hospitals order it yet. WHY IS THAT? I thank my lucky stars I am stuck here during this pandemic, but now I feel like I'm stranded on an island with no way to get off. I could take my chances with the virus and fly to the US and get vaccinated in a couple of days then 2 weeks later I'm done. In the case of the J&J vaccine it's one and done. My thoughts: just because something is "official" in Thailand does not mean it's going to actually happen. And the other thought is, if you let tourists in, and then there is a spike (which seems overwhelmingly likely), will the government close again? Oh, and I don't immediately fully trust the integrity of the immigration procedure to believe that only vaccinated people are entering. I have booked a vacation for my family from 2nd July to 1st of august. Done all the booking myself. Had planned first 25 days on Koh Samui. Looks like a weeks Quarantine first. Anyone have any idea where i have to do this? In Bangkok? Or could it perhaps be done locally so i dont loose the ticket i booked and paid with bangkok air? I would suggest you've not moved around much then chum , sure Phuket and Pattaya have many places for what you say , similar to most other cities in the world , Soho London , Reeperbahn Hamburg , Amsterdam , Bangkok (best place in Thailand ?) The whole world is leaning this way right now, and I would be extremely surprised if this isn't the case to entry into any country. Most tourism right now is simply not allowed. Our borders here have been shut to tourism for one year, and no signs of re-opening even with massive vaccinations going on. Our health care system is running at nearly 100 percent and we cannot have infected foreigners coming in causing more beds to be filled. I would expect this to be the case, solidly. You are in luck. one provinces mentioned in the 7 day quarantine for vaccinated is Koh Samui. in addition some places will not have quarantine after July 1st. The embassy that serves my area (Washington DC) said that the would also accept insurance from your own country that covers you in Thailand, We have Blue Cross Blue shied and someone else we know who also has BCBS said, that the embays has already accepted their insurance. We have filed but have not heard yet. But even if they dont.
