Sophon Cable TV reported that today is the day that the so called Area Hotel Quarantine begins in Pattaya.

Though their report did not mention where tourists could do it exactly.

They explained that AHQ was being trialled in Krabi, Phuket, Surat Thani (Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan), Chiang Mai and Chonburi...that is to say Pattaya.

Tourists would have to stay in their rooms for three days after a test then would be able to utilize the surrounding area for the rest of their 15 day stay.

After two more tests they would then be able to visit the rest of Thailand.

Earlier reports quoted the mayor of Pattaya Sontaya Kunplome as saying that 20 hotels were interested in running AHQ but as yet details of precisely who have been approved have not been announced, notes Thaivisa.

The AHQ scheme is as a result of work done by three Thai ministries, said Sophon, namely tourism and sports, transport and public health.

They don't know?  Guess the 20 didn't put enough tea money in the envelop?????  not surprising he also didn't know Pattaya Nua City Hall side of the road was being ripped apart. He most likely doesn't know the parking garage in City Hall really has no parking you drive up there are nothing but abandon vehicles employee or official are using to store their personal junk vehicles? You know what they say " lights on but no one is home" ????
