Video footage shows the  moment a cargo ship crashed into houses alongside the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok on Saturday.

In the video shared by Thai news site EJan local residents can be heard screaming in panic as the ship gets ever closer before colliding into riverside piers and houses, narrowly missing a power pole and cables.

The incident happened at around noon on Saturday near Laem Temple in the Phra Pradaeng District of Samut Prakan.

No injuries were reported although there was some damage to property.

There was no damage to the ship, which was able to resume voyage to an anchorage near SriRacha.

An investigation has been launched into the incident.

Clearly Covid 19 is to blame.

That gets blamed for everything in the world these days.

Strange, usually the power pole is the first to get it ?

Why are they so often referred to as 'power poles' on TV. I believe the correct term is 'speed arresters' or informally 'vertical sleeping policeman'.
