Popular Post Jonathan Fairfield
Image: Thanawat Suengchitthawon Leicester City midfielder Thanawat Suengchitthawon made history on Saturday by becoming the first Thai football player to be named in a Premier League matchday squad. Thanawat, who has been a key figure in Leicester’s under 23 team this season, was an unused substitute in the home game against table topping Manchester City. Leicester went on to lose the game 0-2, with the victory meaning that Manchester City now just need four more wins to claim the Premier League title. Sanook reported that Thanawat was born in Thailand to Thai parents but moved to France with his family when a child. He also holds French citizenship and has also appeared for France U16 and U17 national teams. He joined Leicester in 2020 after spending three seasons with Nancy II in the French second division. Meanwhile, the Leicester City website reported the club paid tribute to late chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha on what would have been his 63rd birthday. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2021-04-04 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 3

Bit harsh. To get picked for French national sides in his age group is no mean feat. Maybe the fact the club is Thai owned helped in persuading him to join Leicester. Good luck to him. 2

Shinawatra tried bringing a few Thai footballers over when he owned Man City but couldn't get work permits due to the low ranking. French citizenship seems to have got round that hurdle
