Patty Tavatanakit is perhaps not a name most of the world will know, however since today she is making all the front and back pages of the tabloids around the world, with her jump in Poppies Pond on the 18th green.

The 21-year-old has just won the first Major of the year on the LPGA tour, the ANA Inspiration at Mission Hills Country Club, Rancho Mirage, in California.

Not only did she handle the pressure by holding the lead on all four days, but she also beat a charging Lydia Ko, who shot a 62 to get within two shots of the lead.

Tavatanakit is the first rookie to win the ANA Inspiration since Julie Inkster in 1984, and with her win, she earns $465,000. She has only earned $646,619 in her whole career.

Although her hometown is Bangkok, she currently lives in Orlando Florida. She played collegiately at UCLA, where she was a seven-time winner and two-time WGCA First-Team All American.

Tavatanakit was named the 2019 Gaelle Truet Rookie of the Year on the Symetra Tour where she earned three victories in 11 starts. She actually qualified for her LPGA Tour, by finishing second on the Symetra Tour’s 2019 Race for the Card to first earn LPGA Tour status for the 2020 season.

Her caddie Ryan Hogue has worked with many top PGA and LPGA players, but this was one of the first times he has caddied for her, and we expect to see this partnership flourish.

Currently ranked 103 in the world, she is likely to jump up the Rolex rankings, and up the all-important LPGA money list too.

She now has an invite in the mail to join the stars at the Honda LPGA Thailand at the Siam Country Club Old Course in Pattaya this May as well

Fellow Thais Moriya Jutanugarn finished T10, Pajaree Anannarukarn T26, Pornanong Phatlum T50 and past ANA winner Ariya Jutanugarn T60.

An incredibly special Easter present for an exceptionally talented golfer.

Please translate this into Mandarin. I might, then, be able to understand it.....

I watched some of this tournament where Patty held off a hard charging Lydia Ko.  Perhaps the Thai women will start challenging the Koreans as the dominate force on the LPGA.
