Prachuap Khiri Khan immigration are helping the provincial police with loans of their famous BMW smart cars for Songkran checkpoints.

The vehicles with their special capabilities will join in at checkpoints to ensure the safety of the public before and during the Songkran holidays this and next week.

Police are on the lookout for drugs and illegal activity of all sorts and plan to crackdown on ten main infringements on the roads between 10th and 16th April.

These include speeding, DUI and people not wearing helmets on motorcycles, reported Naew Na

What are 'their special capabilities' for this - spot a DUI suspect at 500 metres, or no helmet?

Last time I checked, I was quite good at detecting a motorcyclist with no helmet, just by using my own laser-type vision.

Actually the Police should start selling helmets to the motorcycle  offenders whenever they caught them without helmets. Fine them and at the same time earned money for the Force.
