PHUKET: The 25-year-old noodle vendor shot by a drunken off-duty police officer on Bangla Rd will never walk again, and only last week underwent surgery to increase his chances of being able to sit up, doctors have told the young man’s wife.

The noodle vendor, Aroon Thongplab, was shot in the stomach by Cpl Pornthep Channarong of the Phuket Provincial Police just before 6am on Feb 23 attack while he was walking along the street after collecting a noodle bowl from a customer.

In less than 24 hours Pornthep was quickly stripped of his rank and discharged from the Royal Thai Police, and now faces charges of attempted murder, carrying a firearm in a public area without necessary reason, and firing a weapon in a public area.

That damned disgrace Pornthep should be put up against a wall and shot.

So what's the problem than.

He should be on Remand in Jail  Not running around planning to leave the country or commit another Murder.

Make him pay dearly. Take away everything from him and give it to the victim. Put him in with the regular prisoners for life and make sure he gets treated equally as the rest.

I can't see a police corporal having very much to take.

Of course he will be put with regular prisoners, they don't have a VIP wing for ex cops!

This is the problem with allowing immature, drunken police men to carry firearms when off duty, which most of them do, whether it is allowed by police regulations or not.

In fact they don't even need to be off duty to be drunk as I used to see many times in Pattaya and still see to this day in Isaarn. They believe the laws they are there to enforce do not apply to them themselves.

They then cobble the princely sum of 30,000 baht in total to give to the wife whose poor husband is now a cripple because of the antics of a drunken police clown.

Shameful on the side of the police and heart breaking for the family.

They should execute this piece of <deleted>. At the very least this poor excuse for a cop (and human being) should never see the light of day again. Idiots who exhibit this type of behavior should be culled from society one way or another.

We can only hope that the Court does the right thing and finds him guilty on all charges .

...and then hand him a 5 year sentence reduce to 1 year for showing proper reverence to Thai officials.  The police Cpl will be out partying it up and getting as drunk as ever in no time flat.

The noodle vendor?  That man and his family will never find justice.  Not in this country.  Someone should help them make a GoFundMe page.

Poor young man, got a family, but will no longer be able to support them, tragic.

Due to yet another drunken policeman acting like a clown.

My heart goes out to Aroon and his family, so young to be left paralyzed, unable to do things that before were just routine.

That damned disgrace Pornthep should be put up against a wall and shot.

Shooting him helps nobody, he should be made to support the family for the rest of his life.

The cop should have to take care of the paralyzed guy for the rest of his days..wash--bathe---transport--etc or financially support his needs

As per thai logic,,,he wouldnt be paralyzed if you hadnt shot him...

As a thai cop once told me--he wouldnt have hit u on your mbike if you werent there....
