Thailand's chief of immigration Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang gave details of the arrest of some French people and an English woman mixed up in the possession and selling of marijuana.

They are believed to have connections to the Eastern Seaboard with other French people. This probably means Pattaya, notes Thaivisa.

Since the start of this year an informant told immigration that a foreign gang were selling marijuana to tourists in tourist places.

They were using rented rooms to store the drug and process it and were moving around a lot from room to room.

Information came in from a block in Soi Sri Bamphen in Thung Mahamek, Bangkok.

This is part of the well known tourist area off Rama IV near the Malaysia Hotel in Soi Ngam Duplee, notes Thaivisa.

The manager of the block told the police that French people were acting suspiciously.

They had rented a monthly room but no one appeared to be actually staying there.

People would come and go but for less than an hour at a time.

Immigration looked at CCTV and this matched the description given earlier by the informant.

After the foreigners told the manager that they intended to move out and settle utility bills all the immigration officers had to do was stake out the room, reported Naew Na.

A man arrived and left with an item of wheeled luggage.

Inside was dried ganja, some scales and a heat pressing machine.

His name was Samy, aged 28, who was not on overstay.

Immigration took him to his real place of residence, a nice apartment in the Charoen Nakhon area where immigration found three people on overstay.

There was a Frenchman called Chergui, 27 and a French woman called Anissa, 28, and a UK woman called Elamile, aged 29.

As immigration arrived they threw marijuana and smoking equipment out of the window.

This was found by a maid who informed immigration.

Samy was charged with possession and distribution of a class 5 drug and the others with being on overstay and they are now in the hands of the Thung Mahamek police.

The case is being expanded to other gang members - believed to be French - on the eastern seaboard.

that of the French?
With such first names, they are only French on paper, but not of origin.
Do not mix, they spoil life in France enough
Throw them in Thai prisons.

That's true !

What i miss in this story is the narcotica brigade of the police.

They were not involved? Normally if there are drugs involved it goes to police and not immigration, but ok TIT?

Immigration is a part of police; fully: Royal Thai Police- Immigration Bureau

What's suspicious about that in the land of short time rentals?

What usually happens to foreigners caught doing this kind of business? Worse or more lenient than punishment for Thais?

Suspect how much the cash proceeds from the crooks are pocketed by the RTP and shared with the judiciary prior to the trial I suspect.

Samy, doesn't sound French.
Elamile, never heard about that as an English name.

They forgot Loulou,

Note, the vast majority of "Foreigners" will be Burmese, Cambodians and Laos.

POLPOTT,

Chergui is the last name,
Samy has his Arab roots, in principle, in Morocco.
Anissa has her origins in Morocco, Algeria, as well as Tunisia.
It is not because you do not know these first names or last name that they do not exist.
Stop taking a flying carpet to visit the countries of North Africa.

My father was raised in Morocco. I have lived and worked there. All of my Moroccan relatives (many) have Moroccan names. Hardly a flying carpet visit.

Im curious what is a heat pressing machine needed for in connection to marijuana. Cant figure that one out unless its for drying the stuff. Something like that.

Used to make rosin.

Uses heat and pressure, on trichome-heavy flowers (in a cloth bag) to press out a highly-concentrated (70+% THC) viscous substance, which solidifies as it cools, that can then be smoked using a "nail", or other heating elements, usually involving a bong.

One of the purer methods of use, maybe bubble hash (which can also be pressed) is purer/more natural?

27, 28, 29......life changed forever.  and this plan was likely hatched over the last year or longer.....

if you are in your 20's and doing such crazy stuff, please do it in your own country.

kids doing kid stuff, and now realizing it's time to grow up....but all their families back home have been disgraced.  country disgraced.  now they are "famous," but instagram does not care.

sad.
