They were told by national security chief Natthaphol Nakhphanich that CCSA spokesman Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin would announce new measures at 11.30 am today (Thursday). Expected to be announced are new designations of the color of zones and greater difficulty in moving from one province to another. Meanwhile the same media directed questions to Thai prime minister Prayuth Chan-ocha after he officiated at the opening of a new section of the Bang Pa-in to Korat road. When pressed that some doctors were saying that the spread of the UK strain of Covid would be 100 times worse than the old one with people free to travel back home for Songkran he said that whatever will happen will happen. He said it was a matter involving a lot of people and the government needs to find an answer that satisfies the people's desire to be with their families, the needs of expanding the economy and the spread of the virus. When he had been on the stage he had said that imposing lockdown would be "easy" but he did not want to do that. He called for the people to love the military and the police - without that there is nothing. If things go wrong tell us and the government will sort it, he said. Just picked up a friend from the Chiang Mai airport on his way home to Hang Dong. Airport looked full and he said his flight from Bangkok was full as well. Will spend the day catching up with him.
