Just got both an e-mail and a Line message from BNH Hospital in Sathon, BKK.  The message indicates that they are sorry but they have run out of Covid 19 tests.  It says: " BNH Hospital is currently unable to provide Covid-19 Screening test due to shortage of the Covid-19 testing kits"  "We apologize for any inconvenience and we will keep you updated as to when we will be able to test again".

If this has played out throughout Bangkok then it appears we are headed for a rough ride.  Time for those field hospitals the BMA is dawdling about setting up.

Did you get anything from them about their likelihood or timing of making available imported vaccines?

No mention of it as of yet.  2 weeks ago they did an e-mail survey and line survey for those that are registered at the hospital to gauge the need for a vaccination.

All I can say is it makes sense, but that's Ramkhamhaeng Hospital, but then again It has begun, and I wish this government would pull their heads out.  They appeared to be on-top of it, not in control, but none the less appeared to be keeping it in check.  Unfortunately looks can be deceiving.

Do you have a link to a news source indicating all of the hospitals have canceled testing because they are all full.  I saw a twitter grab, but then I am watching the news and have heard nothing to verify this.

I think you are are far out on that too.   Based on the world chart in round figures Thailand has undertaken 8 million tests. The UK with a similar population has done 132 million tests. So if you pro-rata that up then based on today's declared figure in Thailand of a further 405 detected case then it would be around 16.5 times that figure which would put todays realistic figures at 6,682 had they been testing to the same degree.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

Notice that Covid+ in hospitals has gone up about 600 just in the last week, from fewer that 1,500 to more than 2,100 today.

Now that, my friends, is entertainment!

As the OP notes, 450 Covid+ extrapolated with testing would be 6,682 new infections per day. Plus exponential growth.

And more:

"Meanwhile, the “Mor Vain” (Doctor on Duty) Facebook page posted that Vibharam Hospital does not have beds for Covid patients, and that it along with other hospitals, was also planning to stop testing for the virus."

AFAIK, Ramkhamhaeng Hospital had been offering drive-thru COVID testing, and supposedly got a lot of testing referrals from the recent/ongoing Thong Lo/Ekamai entertainment venues outbreak. That probably contributed to them running out of COVID beds.

Re vaccines, been hearing this from the government for a while now.... but no visible signs of actual progress thus far.

Thai private sector ‘can import Covid-19 vaccines'

"The government is not monopolising the purchase of Covid-19 vaccines and is not blocking the private sector from importing them, government deputy spokesperson Traisuree Taisaranakul said on Thursday.

...

She added that the FDA has, so far, approved the AstraZeneca, Sinovac and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.

...

“India’s Bharat Biotech has submitted its application to the FDA, while Moderna from the US, China’s Sinopharm and Russia’s Sputnik V are being reviewed by the FDA,” she added."

It now appears that the other shoe has dropped.  Not much to say, but I thin this administration took themselves way to serious when they said it was under control.

Instilling fear or predicting reality? Thai Disease Control Department warns of possibility of 10,000+ new COVID cases post Song Kran if the public doesn't follow basic precautions.

"If not follow the disease control measures

After Songkran may find tens of thousands of infected people.
???? Asking for cooperation for people to follow strict personal measures.
- Wearing masks all the time
- Spacing.
- Wash your hands often"

Here's the facebook post from Ramkhamhaeng hospital confirming they have stopped testing along with "many other hospitals" having a shortage of beds.

With these numbers of covid positive daily if/when it increases the health system will be crippled rapidly. Lets keep in mind this is the UK variant, there's no hiding from it.

Add a zero or two to the end of all numbers to get a correct count. The quarantine as I predicted turned out to be a complete failure and only the most desperate stupid foreigners coughed up thousands of dollars to become another member of the scam. The bars should have been shut down over a year ago and stayed closed. But once again $$$ took control of their greedy brains and now thousands are about to become ill and die. Good going Thailand! Its not drugs you need to worry about ruining your life it $$$.

Looks like Phyathai I Hospital can be added to the list of those hospitals above that have stopped doing COVID tests (though their post doesn't say why or mention the bed capacity issue). Their Facebook post from earlier today:

"Phyathai1 Hospital

4h  ·
Dear service recipients who want to enter for COVID-19 testing service.
With Phayathai hospital 1 everyone.
Sorry for inconvenience. Phayathai 1 hospital refrain from providing COVID-19 detection service on all channels.
If you can resume normal service, I will notify you immediately."

This Thai PBS report from today doesn't name any hospitals by name, but it clearly paints of picture of it becoming increasingly difficult to find a hospital willing to do COVID tests in Bangkok right now.

Thailand sees a run on hospitals as Covid-19 cases linked to entertainment venues are reported

People who visited seven bars and pubs in Bangkok in March have been told to urgently seek coronavirus tests after a new cluster of infections was identified. As a result, all coronavirus test outlets at both public and private hospitals have seen an influx of people worried that they too might have contracted the virus.

...

Many pubgoers responded to the call and rushed to get the PCR tests with the result that both public and private hospitals became overloaded. And, of course, when someone tests positive, his/her work colleagues or family members also have to go for a test and thus the demand for RT-PCR tests has exceeded the capacity of the hospitals.

...

Twenty-five-year-old first jobber Kaew (real name withheld) tried to get a queue number for a test at a private hospital near her home in Suan Luang district on 8 April, as her friend, who went to a pub, though not one of the seven listed, had tested positive. After trying for a few hours, she came to the conclusion it was impossible to find a place in the line quickly, even though everyone has to pay between 3,000 baht and 7,000 baht for a RT-PCR test. [Infected persons will be reimbursed by the government later].

Interesting comparison... According to Tourism Authority of Thailand data, the numbers of COVID patients hospitalized in Thailand has nearly quadrupled over the past month, from 579 to 2,114, as of the latest report:

Notwithstanding the Public Health Minister's claim that there won't be any travel quarantines over the Song Kran holiday, there continue to be news reports of ones that supposedly will still be enforced.

AND

Dunno what to say....  ????

They likely know it's slipping out of control.  They've probably been aware for several days.  The first 3 of 6 recently sequenced B117 cases were tested around 30 March.  In the BP, the Thai head Virologist (Yong?) said he suspects it may have come from Cambodia, which has been fighting B117 since early March.

More photos of the Thai military's emergency "hospital" preparations....  Hospital or dormitory?

A rough Google translation:

A spokesman for the military reveals the preparation. Establishing a sanatorium hospital in the military area More than 3,000 beds in Bangkok and metropolitan areas to support the situation of the spread of COVID-19, which has been continuously found to be infected.

There was a long TH language briefing Thursday afternoon by two Thai officials involved in the country's vaccine efforts. I haven't seen much in the way of EN language news media accounts of that as yet. But the Ministry of Public Health did do a TH language news release that Google can translate, with the following excerpts:

--AstraZeneca vaccine made in Thailand is undergoing quality certification. Deliveries are expected this June...

--Nakorn Premsri, director of the National Vaccine Institute, said that AstraZeneca's production of the vaccine against COVID-19 Siam Bioscience Company Limited performed well. There is a production cycle of 2 thousand liters. The vaccine samples are being submitted for quality inspection in AstraZeneca's reference laboratories in Scotland and the United States. The vaccine quality test results are expected to be graded back in mid-April.

--The next one million doses of Sinovac's vaccine will be delivered on April 10. Once quality is checked, the vaccine will be distributed in accordance with the approval of the Covid 19 Vaccination Administration Subcommittee, which may be modified.

And regarding the blood clotting issue with the AZ vaccine in Europe:

--The rates of 2-4 per million injections were mostly after the first dose of the vaccine. But thromboembolism occurs in very few Thai people. Therefore, there is no suggestion to discontinue vaccination, however, we will continue to collect information on whether this is relevant.

If there was ever a reason to protect yourself from catching covid and taking a test then this would be it, imagine being carted off to this dump with mild or no symptoms for 2 weeks minimum.
