BANGKOK (NNT) - The Food and Drugs Administration has inspected the some 40 tons of illegal narcotics confiscated by the court, which are heading for incineration later this month.

The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) and the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) have inspected confiscated drugs, weighing around 40 tons, at the FDA’s narcotics warehouse.

These drugs have been confiscated by court order as evidence in drug cases, some of which have reached final judgement. The 40 tons of drugs inspected today are worth around 43 billion baht, and will be incinerated on 20 April.

The FDA Secretary General Dr. Paisarn Dunkum said the drugs include some 27 tons of methamphetamine pills, along with crystal meth, heroin and others.

The inspection today involved the measurement of the weight, testing to confirm drugs type and random checks.

The incineration of these drugs will take place at Akkhie Prakan Public Company Limited, located in Bang Pu Industrial Estate in Samut Prakan. The drugs will be put into a 1,200-degree Celsius incinerator, equipped with a US EPA certified emission treatment system, to ensure no impacts on the environment.

Will it be a photo op or televised, or just done quietly?

That's smart - disclosing the location of said drugs.

Anyone out there that would like to pull off a heist - just turn up. ????

Interesting what happen to 11 tonns of drugs confiscated some 4 months ago at chachongseo warehouse, at tip off from korean drug agency.
the ministry of interiar personally visited the place and confirmed finding.
after a few days it turned out, that only 2g are ice, but how it appeared there is a mistery. But at least the ministry had coved their backs.
Officers from drug agency are selling on the market drugs confiscated during raids. If dealer wants to get scot free has to pay in millions. The  going rate for a user, with only small quantity, is minimum 100k baht.
