TallGuyJohninBKK
266 of the newly reported cases, almost half of the local cases, today are from BKK. Just nine new cases from Samut Sakhon. The remaining 274 from other provinces (plus the 10 imported new cases reported not reflected in the local cases chart below.) https://www.facebook.com/informationcovid19/posts/302583184693346 Edited April 9, 2021 by TallGuyJohninBKK

TallGuyJohninBKK
Govt spokesman in English language briefing this morning says closure of entertainment venues in 41 provinces will begin tonight at midnight, after being approved by the CCSA. Confirms restaurants will NOT be included those closures. Also provides detail that the one additional death reported today involved a 60-year-old Thai man from Narathiwat who had tuberculosis. TallGuyJohninBKK
Govt. spokesman in EN briefing this morning also updated on the Prime Minister's meeting with reps of the Thailand Private Hospitals Association re the issue of some BKK hospitals lately ceasing to provide COVID tests. Says the hospitals have been claiming they don't have enough supplies to do the tests. But the spokesman says, in fact, it's more because the hospitals don't have enough beds available to admit the patients who would have to be admitted once they test positive. So, the spokesman said the government will be working to expand the supply of hospital beds in Bangkok, work with the local hotel industry to provide hotel/hospital rooms, and look to set up emergency field hospitals in some areas. 2
Popular Post TallGuyJohninBKK
Province breakdown of today's newly reported local cases. Does not include the 10 new imported cases for the day. Two separate categories of cases, the first locally reported, and the second below the result of government outreach testing. So today in the case of BKK, Chonburi and PKK, you need to add together the two different subtotals. https://www.facebook.com/nbtworld/posts/10157938426332050 2

TallGuyJohninBKK
Latest recap of how the daily new local case numbers (excluding the imported cases) have risen over the past week: Also, today's report of 401 self-referred cases, excluding the 148 new cases from govt outreach testing, looks to be the highest tally in the chart below that tracks data back to mid December. The red line below tracks self referred cases, while the separate tan color bars on the chart reflect cases derived from the government's outreach testing. The big spike in the tan bars mid chart is from the large Samut Sakhon outbreak where the govt did extensive outreach testing. All part of the government's 40 or so page briefing document for the day. https://www.facebook.com/informationcovid19/posts/302584148026583 Edited April 9, 2021 by TallGuyJohninBKK

Popular Post TallGuyJohninBKK
The number of patients hospitalized for COVID at Thai hospitals, with today's added cases, has quadrupled over the past month to now more than 2,600 people. The part that's not being publicly reported, though, is what share of those are demonstrably ill vs. what portion have little or no symptoms, and are just being admitted because they've had a positive COVID test.

Lt-Gen Kongcheep Tantravanich, spokesman for the ministry, said today (Friday) that, in addition to the field hospitals, the military has also prepared medical personnel and equipment to take care of the patients. Meanwhile, both the Rajavithi and Ramathibodi hospitals have separately announced the limitation of non-urgent medical services and are urging patients, who are not urgently in need of treatment, to postpone their visits, after some of their staff contracted COVID-19 and several others, who were in close contact with them, were quarantined. https://www.thaipbsworld.com/ten-military-facilities-in-bangkok-reserved-for-field-hospitals-as-needed/ Edited April 9, 2021 by TallGuyJohninBKK
