PHUKET: Phuket is about to find out whether or not the rich and influential will be held just as accountable as anyone else for endangering public safety.

Maj Gen Pornsak Nuannoo, Commander of the Phuket Provincial Police, on Saturday confirmed hat legal action was being taken against the operators of the three entertainment venues that hosted the mass parties last weekend: Illuzion nightclub on Bangla Rd, Shelter club also in Patong and Cafe Del Mar in Kamala.

“At the moment, a complaint already has been filed against all three entertainment establishments under the Disease Control Act, and officers are in the process of investigating all relevant parties,” he said.

which at this stage leaves the highest penalty standing at a fine of B100,000 per entertainment venue. In the heyday of pre-pandemic partying on Bangla, some venues paid that much as their unofficial tax for just one month

Maybe the N.A.C.C. could look into that when they have some time, but, as they will almost certainly be somewhere up the "food chain", it isn't going to happen !

Brown envelopes will do its magic I'm sure.

Case Dismissed.

I rest my case your Honour.

Such a selfish event at Kamala. Packed nearly 3000 people into a venue with a pax of 450 people.

Now the rest of the island will suffer so a select few can have a money making evening.

While the sponsors of the event should bear most of the responsibility, the attendees are also at fault. According to the lengthy video that was posted on TVF, signs outside the venue stated that masks were required, however I didn't see a single mask being worn by the hundreds of attendees shown inside the venue.

I hope these people understand that their few hours of enjoyment could well cost an already struggling local population their livelihood.

the rich are seldom, if ever held accountable here>
although i am all for finning the clubs responsible, (perhaps the fine should be double what they took in that one day)
I cant help but think, what went thru the minds of the idiots attending the parties after seeing what had happened in Bangkok recently.

Having a sign telling people what they should do does not absolve them from responsibility. If they wished to play that card, on-site rapid testing for all attendees should have in place.

There is a police station about 1-2km away, literally walking distance........... there social media should be flooded with complaints.
