LALes
Went to Vietnam during Tet a few years back. Never again. The entire country shuts down for 10-14 days. Feels like New Years Day every day on end. A real nightmare.

Caldera
So trying to get a car fixed in Thailand over Songkran is like trying the same over Christmas in the West? Hardly worth a rant in my book.

Billpro785
Like many have said, easy solution, move back to your home county. I like this time of the year and look forward to it. I have never understood posts like this, yes living here in Thailand does have challenges , but for the most part it is cheap, fun, and beautiful place to retire. Sounds like you are homesick and need to move.

Popular Post CharlieH
Well, I thought it was actually very sad yesterday ! I remembered back to previous years of party atmosphere, very hot weather and people enjoying themselves with the endless precession of vehicles with dustbins full of water being thrown over people. Groups dancing in the road. Yesterday, pouring with rain ! Roads deserted, everywhere closed, like a scene from the "walking dead" Sad and miserable. What a stark contrast to years gone by.

In the USA the madness starts with Thanksgiving in late November and builds to a crescendo by new year's day. During that time people turn increasingly stressed, frantic, and irrational. Many feel driven to do things they really don't want to do, spend money they don't have, and visit people they don't like. Services, government offices, and businesses are crippled. Half of January is social recovery from the ordeal. Happy Holidaze. Bah, humbug! Enduring a week of water fights is trivial by comparison.

I only wish when there is water throwing that they won't put ice in the bucket when they throw it, as I have too many dents in my motorcycle helmet.
