Pfizer CEO says 3rd dose of vaccine probably needed within 12 months, and possible annual booster jabs

Recommended Posts

Pfizer CEO says people will probably need a third dose of a Covid-19 vaccine within 12 months of being fully inoculated, and may have to receive annual booster jabs.

There will be likely a need for a third dose somewhere between six and 12 months and then from there, there will be an annual re-vaccination,” Albert Bourla said in an interview with CVS Health that aired on Thursday.

Also, in order to reach herd immunity Stanford announced Wednesday the process is already underway to vaccinate children.

Stanford is part of a trial with Pfizer to test the COVID-19 vaccine on children under the age of 5.

Nowhere in the link does it mention the quote you posted.

> It are two news-facts.

The first one is on ALL the networks.  Just Google 'Pfizer CEO third dose' > just pick one of them.

For the 2nd one the link was posted.

the last year they have said those 2 doses should protect for around a year.

Now they do recommend a booster sometimes after 6 months.

Probably all the other covid vax will follow the suit, even to play on a safe side.

Mixing them might be a solution. Since december there are experiments with AZ+Sputnik. Recently chinese started to follow.

They are all not the grate vax, there are many research on some 100 vax around the world. They would be gradually coming onto market.

Probably taking different vax each time will have longer lasting effect, even if I wouldn't give a travel passport

I think we already knew it'll be like the flu jab and need a yearly shot due to mutations.

Pity they didn't tell everyone that a third shot was necessary before millions of doses were sold-governments may have opted for a different vaccine.

Whatever, it's turning into a nice earner for shareholders in big pharama.

Few years time, wouldn't surprise me if a tablet form is available.

This will have to be taken every day, of course.

Tablet and nasal spray versions are in testing by various labs.  I don't know about whether they are intended for daily use but there are labs out there grinding away.

No matter what your business, imagine if you could develop a product that had a potential market of very person on earth.

True, but also imagine the level of scrutiny and critical observation from competitors.  I imagine they are all watching each other rather closely.

How could they have known it? It's a new virus, a new vaccine technology and it's less than one year since the first tests vaccine were inoculated.

Sooooo, are you are agreeing that the vaccines were rushed into use before the usual multi year development and testing had taken place?

It is interesting to note that now countries like the US, the EU bloc and the UK are firmly locked into using the Pfizer vaccine the price has just been hiked by 60%.
