webfact
LINE chat circulated at the weekend a complete fabrication – US Embassy The LINE chat between someone, said to be a US Embassy official, and a Thai political activist, is a complete fabrication and the US government is not funding or providing support to any protest groups in Thailand, according to the U.S. Embassy’s spokesperson, Nicole Fox. Earlier today (Tuesday), a group of protesters, calling themselves “The peoples of Thailand” rallied at the US Embassy in Bangkok, to protest against alleged interference in Thailand’s internal affairs by, what the protesters claim, are embassy officials. The protest followed a social media post, circulated over the weekend of April 17th and 18th, purporting to show a LINE chat between a former U.S. Embassy official and a Thai political activist. mbenson
Folks are saying that Thailand is of little interest to the US anymore. Perhaps it is not as important economically. However, politically, I would think the US is VERY interested in limiting the influence of China in the region. Thailand is in China's pocket, obviously, but that could change... Does anyone else find it ironic that Communists have a very unfavorable view of royalty of any sort, yet the nationalist, royalist, Thai government loves them? Well, not that ironic actually. I think the US would want a reliable ally if they were looking for a buffer not one controlled by people who would sell out their own Grand Mother for a few baht. Some old-timers like Sondhi Limthongkul (sprung from jail on a pardon) have been whipping up the minions lately. He did chime in on the Streckfuss affair, defaming him by calling him a CIA asset. Back in the old days, the regime welcomed the support of the U.S. to defeat "communism" and support/elevate the monarchy. For some reason these rabid minions choose to ignore history. Blaming outsiders, and the oft-mentioned "Black-hand(s)", is easy for the current regime. I guess it might keep the peasants confused and angry at someone other than the "government"?

Sydebolle
As long as the US can, without hinderance and mandate, interfere worldwide in domestic affairs without being booted out of countries ...... The US foreign policy in general has been an absolve"*ç%"*çtelutey disaster since the Korean war in the early 50s and regretfully nothing has been learnt ever since. The same people blame, i.e. the Russians (and in the past the Soviets) for interfering in US domestic politics and elections. Well, if if is that easy to stir the dirt within the USA for a foreign power, then the US might realign its ill-gotten resources from a hefty USD 700+ Billion defense budget for something more beneficial for mankind - me thinks! 1

Without being booted out? That's happened several times. But you're OK with Russia killing people in the UK, Czech Republic, etc, etc, etc. Hacking elections systems...heck, hacking elections. Research Georgia. And what's going on in the Baltics. Not to mention Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, etc, etc. And there's China. Taking over atolls that don't belong to them. Destroying them. Kidnapping people in other countries. Hacking computers. Both of them have massive internet troll farms. Just to disrupt governments globally. Right.... 2 1
