Popular Post webfact
Reuters file photo for reference only The third wave of COVID-19 infections in Thailand have already peaked, the Department of Disease Control (DDC) has said. Speaking on Thursday, DDC chief Dr Opas Karnkawinpong said he expects cases to gradually decline over the next fortnight. Dr Opas said that while he is thankful of the public’s cooperation regarding the latest outbreak, it is imperative that people continue to adhere to the preventive measures put in place to limit the spread of the virus. He added that health officials were continuing to discover cases in groups of people who had recently socialised or attended private gatherings. He said that people organised events which lead to a spread of infections can expect to face legal action. Dr Opas also spoke on other COVID-19 related matters, namely reports of people having an adverse reaction after receiving the Sinovac vaccine. He said that reports that 40 people had suffered an adverse reaction to the vaccine were not true. He said that 6 people - all young women - suffered some numbness and partial paralysis. However the symptoms were only temporary and all patients recovered. MRI scans of patients showed nothing abnormal. Dr Opas also said that people who are due to get vaccinated will undergo mental health assessment prior to being inoculated. The assessment will help health officials protect against Immunisation Stress Related Response (ISRR). -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2021-04-23 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 1

The number of people in serious condition (352) and on ventilators (91). Knowing the number of people in serious condition helps us ‘observe’ the true impact of this virus. Knowing the number of positive cases is an extremely poor cousin to the ‘serious condition’ metric. There could be a lot more untested asymptomatic people, or there could be not many more. Asymptomatic people have very little reason to go and get tested, thus the numbers are always going to be misleading. The numbers of people in 'Serious Condition’ with Covid-19 will not be easily manipulated or ignored, monitoring this figure on a daily basis will allow all of us to place our finger on the true pulse of Covid-19 in Thailand. 10

Tropicalevo
4 hours ago, webfact said: He (Dr Opas) said that reports that 40 people had suffered an adverse reaction to the vaccine were not true. That is not quite true either. “That was not what happened,” a nurse at Lampang Hospital’s covid department told Thai Enquirer by phone. “The report of 40 severe cases of side effects is not true.” “There was only one severe case of side effects before we temporarily halted vaccinations on Wednesday,” an official at the Lampang Provincial Health Office’s covid department told Thai Enquirer. The province has since resumed its inoculation program on Thursday. The health official told Thai Enquirer that there was only one case that required hospitalization and it was a 46-year-old woman who suffered from a stroke-like symptom 15 minutes after the injection. She also said the majority of the remaining 39 side-effect cases have minor symptoms such as numbness or lack of strength of their limps, tighten chest and low blood pressure and all of them have recovered by themselves. Umm. Who to believe?
