Overweight, elderly, balding, alcohol issues, no manners with a much younger Issan wife who appears not to like him much.

From the  slim, young, flowing locks, non -alcohol, perfect gent who dislikes younger Issan women, who came to Thailand for the temples.  <deleted>

That's all we need from an idiot Farang! My feeling that a booze ban is coming has just been accelerated!

unfortunately about 20% of drinkers will lose all impulse control and therefore are quite dangerous in a pandemic. These actions have contributed heavily to illness rates throughout the world. But, just like the yabba cartels, the booze industry yields huge influence and control and therefore won't be banned. Even if that occurred, there's quite a few folks living here that would be cooking up the juice just as they do in the M.E.  - so no worries, everyone will always get their fix..

Unfortunately just another story making us look bad from a foreigner nut jobs antics. He needs to seriously get himself in check. Better for him better for all of us Expats here.

yes, no matter what the circumstances we're all cast in a bad light again and particularly right now is very bad timing. He's very fortunate imo that someone didn't tap dance on his head regardless of the back story..

I'm betting most of the world don't consider spitting to be dirty.

The west is not 'much of the world', it's just a little bit.

Most of the world are clearly barbaric savages in need of a good colonization, then.

yes it is also definitely a lot worse now with social media and everybody and their grandmother having a mobile phone and just has to video and post. Group Thai Line Dancing On his head is more like it

So spittle only contains the covid virus when it is directed at a person does it ? Clearly you think that spitting is a socialy acceptabe  activity and that is is ok to to undertake what much of the world considers a disgusting habit. I hope I do not have the misfortunate to be anywhere near you if you condone such an unhealthy habit.

To educate you please read:- https://www.timesnownews.com/health/article/does-spit-transmit-covid-19-heres-what-you-should-do-after-contact-with-someone-elses-saliva/561221

The article is about somebody smearing spit on buttons of an elevator, not something what most people do.

The most disturbing thing here is the Thai man calling the foreigner "it".

He is wearing the pensioner uniform -  checked shirt and shorts.

Hardly newsworthy, I've done much worse in my time here when a drunk. Even when I stole a bus in Nontaburi, it didn't even make the local newspaper.

Can not condone this idiot but given the proclivity to Thais spitting anywhere and everywhere I guess this only made the xenophobic Thai news headlines because it was a foreign person.

Thais don;t spit all that much, unless they are low class workers. So this frang would be considered low class if he wasn't already. The Chinese are spitters.

This is just another drunk and disheveled farang to give us all a bad name. Isn't it a surprise when immigration make more and more hoops for farangs to jump through. Can you blame them?

He was acting like an it, so not too surprising.

Sorry you didn't get your 15 mins of fame ???? Pick one with bad brakes and passengers next time!

My fellow falang

DO NOT JUDGE THIS GUY TOO QUICKLY OR HARSHLY

I don't know him personally but someone I know does and he authorised me to pass on the message that he is bipolar and this has more to do with bad mental health condition and addiction than anything else. He is under treatment.

There, for but the grace of God,  .... etc!

He probsbly should explain that to the Thai press then.

Years ago I was in Ubon visiting a friend. We went to one of the farang bars. My barstool neighbor was Euro, but I'm not too good picking out those accents. Could've been French. He was a little too eager to spill his guts, and despite indicating I wasn't interested kept on going. He'd had supposedly made his fortune in a chain of restaurants back home, was in Thailand over 10 years, had been through two Thai wives and bought them houses, cars, yadda yadda. I wonder. Heh. I guess that describes a lot of folks unfortunately.

This guy needed to be arrested because of his antisocial behaviour.

A  Thai guy waved a  machete at me today whilst  driving , lets  see  how the local  Police deal with that, Id  call that rather  antisocial.

If you can not understand what examples they are trying to educate you about, the dangers of spitting anywhere, then clearly your own health awareness is something to be desired.

Two former wives, and sitting spitting at people. Sounds a very emotionally mature and likable human (not)

I wonder if acted like this during his marriages?
Very sociable human ????

Probably wonders why he is single.

He probably does no such thing as wondering why he is single, only you seem to think he should. He no doubt always thinks he is in the right and its everybody else that his wrong, including his 2 former wives, much like many people on this forum. He like many others appears to be obnoxious, but having said that someone here  stated he is bi-polar which may explain his actions but not excuse them.

Normally it is the former wives that were in the wrong.

I've encountered many former wives (mine and other guys), and I don't think I've ever felt 'He deserved to lose his house and assets'. I've never met any 'former wives' that came out of a marriage with less than they went in.

That's just how life is.

When I think back on all the stories posted about Thai guys going 'postal' on former wives and lovers, I can only wonder at the level of racism and xenophobia that it took the reporters to publish this story about a trivial event ........

'Guy gets drunk and spits a bit after being betrayed and asset stripped by two Thai women' ........ is the true headline.

I live in Ubon and from reliable sources; this gentleman is definitely bi-polar. When these people do not take their medication they go off the rails. I have personal experience of dealing with this here in Ubon. 14 years ago, a young Australian was bipolar. He had been in and out of the Ubon psychiatric hospital several times. After being mentally okay for several weeks he was on his way back to Australia. I took him to Ubon airport to catch his flight to Suvarnabhumi Airport. He checked in and made his way to the departure lounge. I hung around to wait for the flight to depart. Suddenly I was called into the departure lounge. The young Australian was creating havoc in the VIP lounge. Throwing stuff around, sitting on the floor and taking his shoes off. He saw me, got up and rushed back out into the main part of the airport. Opened a fridge, and rolled bottles of drinks along the floor. Then he ran out into the car park, waving and singing in and out of the cars. Shortly, a police car came with two police ladies who easily escorted him into their car. He was quiet as a lamb. They took him straight back to the Ubon psychiatric hospital where he remained for a couple of months. Later in the year we finally got him back to Australia, where sadly, he died a few months later.

Hats off to you man, at least you tried to help him

That truly is a sad story. Unfortunately I am not convinced as to whether the medical authorities here would have diagnosed that in this person or perhaps he never sought help or even recognised that he needed help. Very easy for all of us to be judgmental, often wrongly, when we do not know all the facts.
