No mercy for lockdown violators – four arrested in Rolls-Royce for undocumented travel during blockade

Police stopped a Rolls Royce, driven by an army officer with three Chinese nationals were detained and brought to the police station. The incident took place this afternoon at about 2pm at the base of the Chroy Changvar bridge on the West Bank, Srah Chak commune, Daun Penh district, Phnom Penh.

 

The driver and passengers did not have valid travel documents when they were stopped and questioned. The driver of the car was identified as an army officer named Moeung Samon while the passengers comprised three Chinese nationals, including women. They had reportedly departed from a  Sky Bar in Chamkarmon district and headed to Sokha Hotel in Chroy Changvar district.

 

Authorities at the target point at the base of the Chroy Changvar bridge on the west side stopped the luxury car to check the relevant documents that would enable them to travel during the blockade of Phnom Penh.

An army officer driving a Rolls Royce? I'd say greater crimes than not wearing a mask have been committed somewhere along the line!

I knew right away, this was NOT a Thailand related post, when it said an army officer had been charged with a crime. Or at least brought downtown! 

 

Never happens here. The term "above the law" seems to have been invented for the Thai army, police, customs, immigration and all active administration officials.

"13 Chinese Nationals and a Cambodian driver were stopped by police yesterday night for breaking the Lockdown.

Police stopped the two luxury cars at the base of Chroy Changvar bridge in Srah Chak commune, Daun Penh district, Phnom Penh. When police searched the 13 individuals in the 2 vehicles, they found that none of them had documents permitting them to travel through lockdown. Police then detained the 14 people. After interrogation, the Cambodian driver told the police that he had taken the 13 Chinese men and women from Boeung Keng Kang area in order to go to a Chroy Changvar condominium. The 13 Chinese nationals, along with a Cambodian driver, were sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Police for further investigation. The arrest of the 13 brings to mind the root cause of the February 20 Community Outbreak which started when four Chinese nationals escaped from the Sokha Hotel and set off a chain reaction which today has claimed 82 lives and more than 10,500 COVID-19 infections."

Yes indeed, this OP states Rolls Royce luxury cars. The start of Cambodia's current crisis began as quoted:-

 

"Opening Scene: It is February 7, 2021. The four female Chinese nationals were on a private jet from Dubai bound for Phnom Penh....................checked into Sokha Hotel and then disappeared the next day, after testing positive.
