Cambodia may register slightly lower number of COVID-19 positive cases Friday when compared to the almost four digit numbers announced yesterday. Up to 22:00 hours on Thursday, approximately 650 COVID-19 positive cases have been detected, officials familiar with the numbers said.

They added that Phnom Penh will again register a high number of cases followed by a few other provinces such as Sihanoukville, Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom, Siem Reap and Kampong Speu. Cambodia’s battle to contain the Coronavirus and flatten the curve has become increasingly challenging and appears to get worse as the lockdown entered the third week as of midnight Wednesday.

The lifting of the inter-province travel ban has been directly attributed to double digit infection in one province late today, giving an indication as to what may yet to be containment. The lockdown in Phnom Penh, categorised into three colour schemes denoting different levels of risk that have been introduced on Wednesday has added to the confusion as more areas have been added this evening.
