webfact
Picture: INN Thailand chief of immigration Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang reported that his men had arrested the head of a call center gang who had stolen 12 million baht from 46 victims in Japan. Misuna, 40, had entered Thailand on a tourist visa and attracted attention after being able to live in the kingdom without any obvious means of support. Information supplied by the Japanese authorities suggested that Misuna was the head of a gang comprising another seven of his friends. Misuna would pose as a policeman with the ruse that people were being investigated for illegal bank account use. He would manage to get their bank details. Picture: INN Then he would send in his friends posing as police with fake search warrants to seize ATM cards then empty their accounts. The equivalent of 12 million baht was lost. Seven of the gang were arrested but Misuna fled to hide in Pattaya. He was found to be on overstay. He is now being returned to Japan to face charges there, reported INN news at an IB briefing yesterday. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2021-05-01 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates
