(the U.S. ranks No. 1 in the world for total CV cases and CV deaths (total, not per capita)  by a wide mile, though India lately is beginning to catch up). Per capita, last time I checked, the U.S was usually around the top 10-15.

20 odd  Thais died today of Covid, your country allowed thousands a day to die as a result of bad management & "demanding my freedom"by the people.

I would have thought as an American you would be the last person to "rag" the Thais 

with America's record.

The Thai Government have already stated that us Farangs living here will get

The other day there was a write up from an American about his vax trip to Guam. Try there, it is closer than flying to US. Btw, there is no such thing as "resident" in TH but for a few.

Many posters have criticised my sense of entitlement.  I am curious what their nationalities are.  What degree of prejudicial thinking would make the segregation of Thais and foreigners in regards to their access to a vaccine acceptable?    

 

My doctor at Bumrungrad anticipated that I would be able to be vaccinated in April.  As the acquisition of vaccines was delayed and then delayed again, he and more than 75,000 colleagues petitioned that the health minister, Anutin, resign.  If the government's tardiness in buying the vaccines has resulted in a shortage of doses, that makes it reasonable for foreigners to appeal to their various embassies for Vaccinations.  As a single American, not a high level decision maker, it is only appropriate for me to ask for vaccines for Americans.  Other nationalities can appeal to their own embassies and, perhaps, suggest that their embassy piggyback on an American shipment of AZ vaccines.

 

People have referred to me as belonging to the other half which they are ashamed of.  I served my country in dicey situations for 24 years.  Which half would that put me into?   

 

There is a certain amount of virtue signalling in some posts.  Putting America and certain Americans down does not make you a superior person.

 

I can't find it now, but a poster on this thread posted a link to information about foreigners being able to request vaccines from their embassies.  That is helpful.  Thanks.

Personally I find that you are right to ask your embassy for vaccine assistance, considering that in Thailand corruption plays the most important role that the health of its citizens. If the embassy of your respective governments did not care about their own citizens, it only means that she considers you second-rate citizens.

Sinovac is a global pharma. company that is listed on the Nasdaq. CP Group bought 15% of Sinovac in January through its Hong Kong pharma company.

IMO it's because you apparently think the Thai government regards farangs as being of equal importance to Thais. Those of us been in Thailand long enough, IMO know that expats come somewhere below the family buffalo on the scale of importance. Some even think that the money we spend makes the Thai government care about us when, IMO, the amount we spend is so small in the greater context of the Thai economy that we are probably insignificant.

As for the embassies, that's between the individual expat and their embassy. I neither know, nor care as to what the US embassy does or does not do re their citizens, but I never expected my country's embassy to give a monkey's about me should I have a problem.
