Popular Post Mansell
Let me preface this by saying I’m 77 years young. I play doubles tennis twice a week, badminton with the family, ride bicycle couple of times a week, kayak occasionally, ride Kawasaki occasionally, reading is extremely important to me, and I enjoy walking. Enjoy most sports, but the body cannot do things like surfing anymore. I think it important to keep moving to stay flexible and young.

Any advice on shops and how to get started here in Thailand? I live in north Thailand. HobbyKing is by far the best source (order over their website). Look for RTF (ready to fly) aircraft that come with everything you need. Start off with a Bixler, and go from there. HobbyKing ships from Hong Kong.

I bought one on Lazada, pretty expensive for what it was, and it wasn’t very big.....bigger is better for lift etc. I was flying one day and I let it get a bit far away, suddenly I had no control. It was still in sight, but basically disappeared. We searched for days, but nothing....I think somebody must have picked it up and walked away. I used to fly a lot in California and had an assortment of planes/gliders. I don’t think the ones I’ve seen here are very good. The best bet would be to have somebody bring it from your country, when they can. German electric engines are the best, but you pay for that. Good luck. Not sure they do gliders but believe they have a Facebook account so you might be able to check with them. Since then I get everything from Lazada or Aliexpress. For information on transmitters and electrics I use YouTube, would be lost without it.

I personally dont race but sail in the sea off the coast of Prachuap it can be exhilarating and just one day the boat may head for Cambodia (i have avoided that for 8 years) There are sailing clubs in Bangkok (sarin city village pool) and Sattahip As in Thailand most contact is via FB but they are very friendly https://www.facebook.com/rcscthai/

Actually, I rarely 'talk' on the radio, because I'm teaching online, so can't speak! I mainly use digital modes (sort of like text messaging by radio). Not sure if I've been in contact with the other member - I need to know his callsign. (My call in Laos is XW0LP). By the way, if you want to see what sort of mad projects I get up to, have a look at my Youtube videos about my projects and, (perhaps of more general interest), some musings about my life in Thailand, Myanmar and Laos: You can find links to these on my ham webpage at: https://www.qrz.com/lookup/XW0LP Edited May 10, 2021 by simon43 3

Some file suffixes it won't accept. Had a lot of fun learning how to use it. 1

Luv riding and maintaining my Supersports Motorbike I like the hard accelerating speed of my machine. Will return to 2 - 4 day bike trips out about Thailand on my bike when covid is out the way. Have my mancave farmhouse and small piece of farmland where I have my Archery target range set up which I enjoy. Practicing Kenjutsu with my Thai copy Katana it's bit like Tai chi with a sword. Use my Bro in-laws .22 air-rifle I bought him for target sniper shooting. A bit of burden sometimes but don't mind helping the mrs out sometimes as taxi driver and help maintaining her apartments and garden. I ran out of energy just reading your post. Playing amateur farmer on 3 rai of fruit trees, vegetables and lawns is enough for me, seeing there is no ocean to swim in up here. 2
