It's probably already in Myanmar. Next stop. Thailand.

Nope, already here.  Why are they letting people back in?  It seems even quarantine makes no difference, but also understand that

somehow people are sneaking into the country somehow and not caring if they bring it and those people need locked up.

Cannot wait for the ill conceived Hotel Association pushed at any cost Phuket Sandbox to do away with quarantine and let every one back in ....... watch the rapid implosion unfold.

It wouldn’t be everyone. It would be just the vaccinated allowed in without quarantine... and before you rebut. Yes, early studies has shown that very few vaccinated get infected (with mild symptoms) let alone have high enough viral loads to spread.

It may be too late to stop the Indian variant. In London, almost 40%  of sequenced samples now pertain to the B 1.617.2 variant  https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9561595/Coronavirus-HALF-Covid-cases-London-Indian-variant-data-suggests.html. However, the UK has a large Indian population and -until very recently- lots of flights from India which will have exacerbated the situation. Cases have been reported in numerous countries, including Indonesia (https://news.abplive.com/news/ india/indian-covid-variant-detected-in-morocco-indonesia-along-with-17-other-countries-know-why-this-variant-spread-so-fast-1456740.). Interestingly, this article claims that the indigenous Covavaxin inactivated virus vaccine (from Bharat) is effective against the mutant but it is difficult to get independent verification. Actually one could surmise that whole virus vaccines might be more effective against mutants where genomic changes are often concentrated in the spike protein.

Finally, the WHO has just declared the Indian mutant a 'global health risk' https://www.cnbc.com/2021/ 05/10/who-classifies-triple-mutant-covid-variant-from-india-as-global-health-risk-.html.

Keep in mind, it doesn’t mean the vaccinated are getting infected with it and dying from it. It is spreading faster amongst the unvaccinated. That is why it is worrisome.

I haven't seen any data yet, showing the Indian variant is the main reason behind the recent surge in cases and deaths in India.

The last data I saw, released by the Indian authorities, showed that in some Indian states, including some of the most populous, the UK variant is still the predominant strain.

It's SOP for experts to play down variants until they have hard data.  It does not rule out the variants as the cause of such explosive outbreaks.  It means "Wait, the data is almost ready."

But he data is coming closer.

The numbers are out today and they don't look good.

I see today is 1919 cases, less than it was 2 days ago, still holding the 2000 line (which is not good).

They will survive two weeks in a hotel. Unlike many of those who get the virus.

No Brit, Brasil, S.African OR Indian type of mutation Will be killing many, IT is less strong as the first virus strain. This was gold after they found it in Brittain, so nobody should be really at Risk, except of the sick and old people. But then they can have ivermectine and zink for getting better in the first stadium of infection.

If live healthy, het vit D and wat healthy good, you don't have a big Risk of getting very sick from any  of the virusses.

Be safe.

unlike many of those who get the virus?  are you suggesting that a large percentage of the people who get the virus actually end up dying?  are you aware of the actual death % in Thailand?   It's misleading statements like this that help generate so much controversy around the nature of C19.

I think he is suggesting many people die from or get the virus and as no mention of "large percentage" was made it seems you have misled yourself on this occasion and accused the poster of a misleading statement so perhaps a little chillout time is needed to re-read his post.

if someone says that many of the people who get the virus will die, this is misleading given the actual figures...  I am perfectly chilled out, thank you.

Luckily, it was discovered in quaranten. However, it's probably already spread here, brought by the illegal boarder crossers.

Luckily it wasn’t a foreigner......

Not sure about in Dubai (if they were just changing planes they wouldn't have to quarantine) but all passengers arriving in Thailand have to go into quarantine.
