Surely we're missing something here as this is just bizarre. You can just about walk around to any household in our village and see the same - just without the pool. What made it a party? More than two farang gathering. If they were Thais it would have been a non-issue.

In a Thai market most people will be taking precautions by wearing a mask hanging from one ear which stops the virus. I'm not sure if it's important which ear it's hanging from. Popular Post Bradmeister
Invasion of Privacy comes to mind..... A single constable could not politely knock on the door and exercise a little discretion? "Hey guys, could you break it up.... a few of the neighbors are concerned....." A group of officers came to arrest them? .....so, let's think about this: for the sake of argument, everyone at the pool is infected. Do the police not value there own Safety and families!? Or the safety of others at the precinct? Better to let sleeping dogs lie.... Who's to say one of the Policemen were not infected and just communicated the latest strain to the entire group?

SuperTed
Making the news should help this elderly couple, who apparently had not violated the national laws. (Who knows re local ordinance.) At any rate, from appearances, they are owed an apology from the local officials. Or at least the brown envelopes should be returned. This is not good Thai hospitality, esp given age of those involved and that its clearly a family and their guests.

"Hoist with his own petard" is a phrase from a speech in William Shakespeare's play Hamlet that has become proverbial. The phrase's meaning is literally that a bomb-maker is lifted ("hoist") off the ground by his own bomb (a "petard" is a small explosive device), and indicates an ironic reversal, or poetic justice.[1] 1
