webfact
Picture: Daily News Daily News reported that there were 91 new Covid infections detected yesterday in Chanthaburi province in the east of Thailand. This brought the total to 533 of whom 377 are Thai and 156 foreigners. Most of the foreigners are Africans in the gems business in Chanthaburi city. Of those infected 118 are from Guinea, 10 from Mali, 5 from Ivory Coast and 2 from The Gambia. Of the 91 infections reported Monday 47 were Africans and 44 were their Thai family members. This came after proactive testing. The Africans have the English variant prevalent in Thailand, said provincial governor Suthee Thongyaem, though this is being re-tested to make sure. Picture: Daily News He said that the first infections in this community had spread the virus through a lack of understanding and communication problems. An asymptomatic individual had mixed with many other people in the African community and the infection had further been spread by religious gatherings. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2021-05-11 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

Popular Post Caldera
Did these Africans sneak in from Cambodia? Skipping quarantine in Thailand? Otherwise it would be interesting where they originally got Covid from.

This is an outrageous headline. There were 533 infected. 100 Africans, maybe 147 now. So 386 presumably Thais. See the racial bias? Of course the Africans are an easy group to target, same as they were in Nana. But the assumptions being made by people here just stink. They're dirty, no work permits, illegal immigrants. Meanwhile, 8 infected Thais sneak into Cambodia in the Battambang area, no Qt, no nothing. There is a very well established community of African gem dealers in Chantaburi. Been there for years. I've never heard or read of any racial disharmony there. I have spent time there and live in Trad, the neighbouring province.
