BANGKOK (NNT) - The Thai government has THB240 billion left over from the THB1 trillion economic stimulus loan, plus THB60 billion from the 2020 emergency budget, to address the COVID-19 crisis until September 30.

The money will be used to bolster several measures, such as Rao Chana (We Win), Mor33 Rao Rak Kan (Section33 We Love Each Other), Khon La Khrueng (Let’s Go Halves), as well deposits into the state welfare card, to help ease people’s burden and stimulate the economy.

Budget Bureau Director Dechapiwat Na Songkhla said, if the crisis continues into next year, the government can use the THB89 billion, earmarked for the 2022 emergency budget, as well as the Finance Ministry’s reserve capital of THB50 billion. If these funds are not enough, the government can issue a budget transfer act, as it did last year.

He added that the government can also use revenue from its agencies, as well as the Public-Private Partnership investment budget, to boost capital expenditure, which is in line with the 2018 State Fiscal and Financial Discipline Act.

Yet we don't have any vaccines yet?

200 + billion has already been deposited into offshore accounts for certain members of the government and those that keep them in power. Corruption has no upper limit in Thailand. The real crisis is not how this government will cope, rather will the Thai people ever have a leader that is able to cut off the head of the snake ?

Maybe they can actually purchase some vaccines that are delivered instead of just the announcements that people have been ordered to procure them.  And if spent wisely, might have some money left over for another submarine.

Taking 70 million people living in the Land it would result in THB 4'285/person from infants to grannies.

To facilitate the maths, a vaccination programme at Bangkok Udon hospital costs THB 3'000, that includes a usually steep mark-up for the hospital and its shareholders and they certainly make anything between THB 500 to THB 1'000 per patient.

The difference can be used for those endless speeches of Anutin and his cronies and you still have loose change at the end.

Question is; what on earth are they doing with that money - as you cannot EAT money - me thinks?

They better be careful or there won't be anything left in the coffers to bail out boondoggles like Thai Airways or the Elite Card.

It might be a perfect storm. If the do run into the red and THAI must be liquidated... I'm getting aroused thinking about it ????
