Public Health Ministry Aims to Vaccinate 5 Million People in Bangkok in 2 months

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Public Health Ministry aims to get around 70% of Bangkok’s residents, or about 5 million people, vaccinated against COVID-19 in two months.

 

Government sub-committee on COVID-19 vaccination management chairman Dr. Sophon Mekthon said the mass vaccination drive is aimed at curbing the serious outbreak in the capital. People aged over 18 are eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccination, if they do not have any medical contraindications.

 

He said the ministry will use both Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines during the mass inoculation campaign in Bangkok, adding that an additional 2.5 million doses of the Sinovac jab and 1.7 million doses of the AstraZeneca shot will be delivered to the country this month.

 

Dr. Sophon said the Public Health Ministry plans to use parts of Bang Sue Railway Central Station as a vaccination hub and to administer 100,000 doses per day in Bangkok. The ministry is confident that, from next month, there will be 10 million more doses of COVID-19 vaccines available each month.

it was leaked yesterday, that astrazeneca ha production problem and they can do max 3mln in June. The figures will also probably be lower for the next months, below planned 10mln.

yes, there are some spare 3mln sinovac, but that's for the whole country

Wake me up when they stop talking about it & the vaccines are actually here.

I have no doubt that when available the community has the ability to actually administer these vaccnes in these numbers, they can do things like this very well when push comes to shove

2,5 mill Sinovac and 1,7 mill Astra Zenica for 70% of the people in Bangkok that are about 5 million. So the only place that will be vaccinated is Bangkok, because with 4,2 million jabs there is already too less and than there is the rest of the country and our special island Phuket. How do they do the magic???

70 % of Bangkok residents is far off of 5 Million.

There are 11 Million residents ( more likely about 15 M ) in BKK if you include all Foreign Workers, Expats Etc.

70 % of 15 Million is a total of 11 Million people.
