Police in Songkhla in southern Thailand are searching for a 66 year old man called Adul or "Khiaw" believed responsible for the murder of a relative and neighbour in an adjoining house.

Phuket ‘smart bus’ considered to replace light rail, save B15.2bn

PHUKET: Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob has ordered an in-depth analysis of a proposal to dump the Phuket light-rail project in favour of a ‘smart bus’ system that would reduce the cost of launching a mass transport option on the island by some B15.2 billion.

Officials linked to 10 year people trafficking operation in Prachuap Khiri Khan

Naew Na reported that 50 illegal Myanmar workers - 31 men and 19 women - had been stopped by a large task force and local officials after crossing a natural border several kilometers from the Sinkhorn border post in Prachuap Khiri Khan.

Inmates nationwide expected to be inoculated in June

Thailand’s department of corrections is planning to inoculate all inmates nationwide, beginning with people at high-risk, such as those over 60, those with a high BMI and those with congenital diseases. The campaign is expected to begin in June, after the new lot of vaccines arrive.

Congestion, poor ventilation and sharing of the same drinking vessels have been blamed as the main causes of the spread of COVID-19 in five factories, with more than 500 workers each, in Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Pathum Thani and Nonthaburi provinces, said Department of Health Director-General Dr. Suwanchai Wattanayingcharoenchai today (Friday).

BOT Helps Small Debtors Affected by COVID-19

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's economy likely shrank in the first quarter of this year, a Reuters poll showed on Friday, as coronavirus outbreaks in the beginning of 2021 hurt consumption and tourism, slowing the pace of the economic recovery.

PHUKET:-- Police have yet to treat seriously a formal complaint filed by a local woman who was accused online by man who posted her photo and claimed that she was a prostitute who worked in Phoonpon Soi 11, that she had slept with 20 customers in three days and that she was now infected with COVID-19.

Buriram becomes first Thai province to penalize refusal for COVID-19 vaccine

The northeastern province of Buriram has become the first province in Thailand to mandate COVID-19 vaccination for all individuals aged 18 and older, with possible penalties as high as two years in prison and a maximum of 60,000 Baht.

PHUKET:-- Rapid antigen tests will no longer be used to determine whether or not people will be allowed to enter Phuket from Sunday (May 16), Phuket Vice Governor Piyawong Choowong has confirmed.
