‘I am not a COVID-infected prostitute’, says Phuket woman

PHUKET:-- Police have yet to treat seriously a formal complaint filed by a local woman who was accused online by man who posted her photo and claimed that she was a prostitute who worked in Phoonpon Soi 11, that she had slept with 20 customers in three days and that she was now infected with COVID-19.

 

Phuket native Rungaroon Siela, 29, appealed to the media today asking for help in bringing attention to her case after she filed a formal police complaint, but since then no action had been taken.

 

Ms Rung-aroon explained that the accusations were posted through a Facebook account named “Art Poopsex” on Wednesday (May 12).

Thailand online is about as harsh as it gets.

 

I've gotten 10,863 sad face emotes, and I have filed 20,000 lawsuits, 8,000 arrested, 4,000 to the gulag, and 10 turned out to be my own kids.

Most comments appearing above seems to confirm the online accusation. Sometimes, I wonder how people look at a photo and judge the character of the person.

 

Imagine, if the photo was of ones wife, daughter or other close person, would the above comments be still true and valid?

 

Do we make comments like this because we are bored? Or are we a 'cut' above the rest? Really...???

1.  Nobody remembers this lady's name, so it's not personal

2.  Comedy is the best medicine during covid crisis

3.  Nobody has a malicious intent when commenting on appearance

4.  yes, we are all hansum men.   everyone tells us

 

I will write a poem to put all to rest:

 

This soul is like a drop of eternal light

Radiant beyond the galaxies above

Bless her soul as her mind contracts

The falang sends their best

Whether she is a prostitute is irrelevant. If a Facebook post falsely accuses her of being COVID-infected, both Facebook and the police should be taking action.
