webfact
1,104 more confirmed COVID-19 cases have been found in Thonburi Remand Prison today (Sunday), in addition to the 1,219 cases reported in three prisons yesterday, 506 cases in Klong Prem prison on Friday, and 2,835 cases reported in two prisons on Wednesday, according to the Corrections Department. According to the department’s press release today (Sunday), the infected inmates in Thonburi are either asymptomatic or are exhibiting only mild symptoms and that anti-viral Favipiravir tablets have been administered to those with mild symptoms. Active RT-PCR screening is being conducted on inmates who were previously cleared of the disease, to make sure that they are not infected, before being separated from the other inmates. The department also said that it has coordinated with a network of hospitals, to prepare for the setting up of field hospitals and to reserve sufficient anti-viral medication for infected inmates, adding that the escalated monitoring will enable containment of viral transmission in prisons. Popular Post jaiyen
Just shows the complete lack of care or understanding of the Covid situation. They put thousands of people in close confinement and just ignore the problem. No surprise they have now got huge numbers of cases. Then they wonder why ! 5

I would imagine it's difficult to do social distancing in a Thai prison. 1

Just another case of how the Thai hierarchy do not care about its own people.

And nearly another 6,000 in Prisons declared on Monday as being positive. There are now over 10,000 confirmed cases from the Prisons over the last few Days. With a population of over 300,000 in Prisons across Thailand, there seems likely to be a whole lot more positives from the Prisons across the Land. And the Head of the Corrections Dep,t says they have it under control. ???? This man obviously needs a vocational change, as he has little knowledge or cares little about what happens inside the Prisons he is responsible for. And still there are no reports of Prison Staff being Infected. Just how does Thailand keep all these people so safe, when the rest of the World has been unable to do so for more than a Year now.

We have the covid situation under control. They dont care about people, only care about their own, sadly prisoners are at the bottom of the pile, so what if a lot of them die, nobody in authority here cares. Bangkok post says over 9,000 Covid cases today. But it’s ok because the virus peaked a few weeks ago.
unblocktheplanet
It's sad & predictable. No compassionate release for nonviolent offenders because there's no compassion for the poor, the ones who get caught or fall out of favour. For the rest of us, the problem is the prison guards. These super-spreaders go home every night. They should be quarantined where they work. Vaccines won't cure this...
