There have been relatively few post Songkran cases in the provinces. The Doomsayers told us that millions of people left Bangkok for Songkran, and the result would be catastrophe.

0 is not many. More than that is too much. Apart from that you somehow missed my point that Songkran travel most certainly spread the disease around the country. Something you say didn't happen.

I have said that cases spread by Songkran were not many, compared to what the Doomsayers were saying.

 

If the Doomsayers had claimed a month ago that Songkran travel would bring 40 cases to some provinces, they would have been believed. But, they didn’t. They talked about millions of people traveling from Bangkok to the provinces.

I am in the province of Chonburi, plenty of negative tests every day.

Covid will be thrown in as a present.

My ... comment is that, apart from the big number of cases in the prison system, the biggest problem are the clusters around Bangkok. These will be identified, testing will be conducted, in some places wire fences will be put up, and the clusters will be isolated and eliminated.

 

The rest of the country will slowly return to normal, especially as vaccinations kick in.

Nobody stated how many tests would be conducted in the prisons. There are easily another 100,000 cases out there, based on what we have seen so far.

However even in Brazil now they are trying to take the president to the courts for his total faillure. Unlike you i like to see people that perform bad be punished. If this pandemic forces out this military government then one thing good came from it.

Brazil has over 15 million cases.

 

Thailand has 100,000, with a third of the population of Brazil.

 

That is the perspective we should keep when assessing blame.

Apparently it does otherwise you would not be using the term doomsayers, you're just making yourself look stupid and naive at best. Downplaying the effects that Songkran travel had, the 1000's of cases, multiple deaths and economic consequences is pure ignorance. Nobody can take you seriously when you display such irrational and false thinking and statements.

 

Thailand is dealing with a major outbreak, the effects are felt everywhere, I would not downplay the seriousness of this situation. You've proved yourself wrong enough times already.

What's about all the people working at or for the prison system.

Delivery people, people living close by. Taxi drivers who drove visitors to prison.

Visitors of the inmates who later went back home by taxi, motorbike, bts, etc.

They can't be traced.

 

What's about all the Embassy people who go an visit inmates of their country?

All Embassies now locked?

I think the claim relates to positive cases in prisons over a period of several weeks that were only disclosed when some high profile prisoners were released and found to be positive.

 

the inference is that had those high profile prisoners not been released and their positivity publicized, the government would have continued to not report positive cases in prisons.

 

in a nut shell, bad news would have been swept under the rug but for a twist of fate.

 

it’s not unnatural to now wonder whether there are any further pockets of unreported positive cases in government run institutions. Orphanages, mental institutions come to mind.

I have noticed that there aren’t that many people walking around outside these days. So, people are staying home more, which reduces transmission of the virus.

Eh... if they had done their job all these lockdowns and damage to the economy would not happen. Songkran played a role and that was clearly the PM his doing. Also the prisons are totally the PM's fault. Don't forget he is the one that took control. So yes we can blame him. If he had his minions (police) better under control. The Thong lor stuff would not have happened and we can blame him for being really late with buying vaccines and making it hard.

 

Yes Brazil is far worse but their leader was a total idiot. That does not mean there is no blame in Thailand.

I think it's safe to say that now we know for sure that the govt has been hiding numbers ipso facto the numbers now can not be taken at face value from the very beginning when some of us on here said don't trust the numbers and got poopooed by many.
